and unloading systems to load and unload bobbins simultaneously; and automatic cable-end cutting and taping with automatic changeover from one take-up to the other. While focusing on these specialised machines, FLYMCA has also continued to produce equipment for aerial cable, railway and other traditional markets, such as steel ropes. FLYMCA SL www.flymca.com LaserLinc is a provider of open, scalable measurement and process control solutions. The company is 100 per cent US-owned and for over 25 years has been serving the wire and cable industry with in-process and off-line measurement systems that optimise processes and product quality. The company’s laser- and ultrasonic based measurement technologies accurately and reliably measure wire and cable diameter, ovality, insulation thickness, eccentricity, profile and surface flaws. Brands include Triton™ triple-axis and Axion™ dual-axis series laser micrometers for diameter and ovality; UltraGauge+™ series ultrasonic gauges for wall thickness; BenchLinc™ series off-line sample inspection systems; and Metron™ automated off-line inspection systems for long cylindrical parts. technical solutions for the wire and cable industry. In recent years, it has specialised in large stranding, cabling, screening and armouring customised machines, mainly for the production of submarine and offshore cables. The company identified high demand for large stranding and armouring machinery to produce submarine cables, and is ready to respond to customer requests, adapting its designs for each project.

Maillefer returns to Shanghai for the tenth edition of Wire China, to showcase its progress in sustainable manufacturing and digitalisation. Visitors to the company’s stand will discover the possible efficiencies and gains from the Topography Scanner, 3D Factory Simulation, Online Curing Control, PP technology and other Smart solutions. energy, communications and infrastructure are leading to new developments. Maillefer will be exhibiting its capability to reach 750 kV cable production, and demonstrating with 3D simulation the value of a digital cable manufacturing twin. Experts will be on hand to discuss expanding capabilities for subsea cables, solar energy/photovoltaic cable, CV lines for energy cables, and local service and support with Maillefer Aftermarket. Sustainability has taken a significant role in product design, and Maillefer will highlight the advantages that its solutions provide in answering customer concerns regarding increased environmental responsibility. FLYMCA specialises in large stranding and armouring machinery
Armouring is achieved in two different configurations: large tubular stranders with bullhead configuration, mainly used for fibre optic submarine cables; and large planetary armouring lines for heavy power transmission cables. These are produced on heavy-duty machines with a high number of wires, based on single- or double-layer design (up to 208 wires, or more in some cases). They are applied by a single cage or dual cage working in tandem operation. The machines also include automatic loading systems to reduce the changeover time. In addition to the increased demand for submarine cables, there is demand for large cross-section conductors (127 wires) produced on rigid stranders. These stranders include automatic loading systems, shaped wire stranding heads, heavy compaction systems, and water-blocking application devices for yarn and powder, enabling the machines to provide consistent and smooth tension control across all the elements. FLYMCA machines have incorporated recent developments that can reduce stopping and changeover time, as well as reducing operator intervention to improve safety. These improvements include accumulators to allow continuous operation; automatic loading

LaserLinc’s Total Vu HMI for process visualisation is open, adaptable architecture software that enables LaserLinc gauges, as well as those from other vendors, to be connected for comprehensive product and process monitoring, display, control and reporting. The new FlawSense system is a 360° surface flaw detection system with 3D flaw qualification playback. It precisely detects and measures lumps, gels, pits, slits and other surface defects that conventional laser micrometers and camera-based systems cannot identify.
MFL Group provides a complete range of machinery for wire and cable manufacturers. Through its 125-year history, the group has gained know-now and decades of experience in the wire and cable machinery industry, along with the acquisition of three companies – CM Caballé, OM Lesmo and Eurodraw Energy – that complement its strengths and bring valuable intellectual property into its wire and cable division.
