dispersions such as water- or solvent based PTFE dispersions to bare wire or insulated cable; and removing inkjet misprints from cable. Available in different shapes and sizes, the range of Helicord machines covers applications from wiping off loosely adhering dust and metal particles, to a two-step process for abrasive grinding and finishing. Product diameters range from fine wire to cables of up to 18mm. Boockmann Engineering GmbH www.boockmann.com Controle Mesure Systemes Group (CMS) is a manufacturer of eddy current and ultrasonic non-destructive testing (NDT) equipment with more than 35 years of industry experience. The company is composed of Controle Mesure Systemes (based in France), Sofratest (specialising in UT for ERW and SAW pipes), and CMS Inc (the USA division). CMS designs and manufactures a range of customised and turnkey solutions to inspect wires, tubes, bars, plates and rails for several markets. For the detection of many types of defects on circular products such as wires, tubes and bars, CMS offers several eddy current and ultrasonic solutions for use either in or off the production line. a magnetising unit or an encircling coil with coil support allows the detection of punctual, transverse, surface or subsurface defects. The product passes through the encircling coil. Several coil sizes can cover a product diameter range from 0.1 to 230mm. The wire inspection speed is unlimited, and in hot wire inspection, the inspection speed can be as high as 250m/s. The RotoETscan eddy current rotary head detects longitudinal surface defects at high speeds on cylindrical products (with diameters ranging from 0.8 to 220mm). Often installed directly on the production line, the inspection speed can reach up to 6m/s. The RotoUTscan ultrasonic rotary head detects external and internal defects of any orientation while also performing dimensional measurements (ID, OD and wall thickness). The diameter range of inspected products varies from 4 to 250mm. Ultrasonic transducers rotate in immersion at speeds up to 8,000 rpm around the inspected product. the scope of products and services to cater to a larger part of the wire and cable industry. It still focuses on delivering solutions rather than products, providing after-sales service and access to its wide knowledge base, and aims at full performance while keeping the ecological footprint as small as possible. Helicord® technology for wire and cable surface treatment is based on friction between a fast-moving wire and a textile cord wound around a wire, strand or insulated cable multiple times, moving slowly under push- and pull-controlled conditions, creating a multiple 360° contact between the constantly renewed cleaning cord and the wire. Blachford Corp Stand: F19

Blachford has been supplying the global wire drawing industry and many of the world’s largest wire drawing companies since the 1950s with wire drawing lubricant programmes that are tailored to the technical specifications of customers’ processes. The company’s in-field engineers and experienced R&D team work closely with customers to fully understand each application’s technical requirements, then design products and programmes that meet those goals. In 2018, Blachford began to sell a new line of pre-coats for ferrous wire. One of its newest products, Chemdraw BSS 300, is a non-reactive pre-coat, intended to replace zinc-phosphate coatings, and the latest product offering is Chemdraw BSS-400 – a pre-coat formulated without boric acid. Visitors to Blachford’s stand will be able to learn more about its products for the manufacture of ferrous and non-ferrous wire; its line of polyol esters; machining and grinding fluids; and custom product design offerings such as new borax-free wire drawing lubricants. Joining Blachford at its wire Southeast Asia stand will be new partner CHS-Asia Chemicals. In the early years, growth and reputation for magnet wire surface treatment came from a focus on problem solving, and working with customers until their requirements were fulfilled and their production lines ran reliably. The company has since gathered knowledge in many fields and widened Boockmann Engineering GmbH Stand: E25

Friction power on the wire increases linearly with the wire speed. This means the friction energy per wire surface unit, and therefore also efficiency, is independent of the wire speed. Helicord can be run at drawing speeds. The use of liquids, such as water-based tensides, organic solvents, oil or a variety of dispersions, may be desirable or even required for both cleaning and coating processes, depending on the application in question. As any liquid is applied in the process zone where it is needed, only small amounts are required – typically below 10ml/min – which provides an advantage over chemical or ultrasonic cleaning and many liquid application methods. For the welding wire industry, various welding wire-finishing cords are available, combining the properties of solid finishing materials with the precision of Helicord coating. Other applications include cleaning insulated cable; applying primers or
