Sector conductor dies to draw aluminium strands to ASTM standards India-based Ajex & Turner Wire Technologies has operated in the wire and cable industries since 1962.
The dies are made from high-quality raw materials that enable them to be both efficient and long lasting. To resolve the issue of smaller diameter conductors, Ajex & Turner’s trapezoidal shape dies can be enlarged to provide a greater cross-sectional area of alu- minium, to match the diameter of the conventional round conductor. For the production of dies and extrusion tooling, the company uses artificial intelligence to calculate the hot and cold majoring values, taking into account the shrinkage of tooling, and being able
The company’s range includes TW, sector conductor dies in PCD, VNT nano and carbide to draw aluminum strands to produce to ASTM standards, ACSR, ACCC and many others. The company’s TW dies are designed to ensure accurate quality parameters, to obtain aluminium strands that are shaped to provide a smooth outer surface that can meet applicable ASTM standards.

Vardhman Special Steels signs order for RSB The Indian steel producer Vardhman Special Steels and the rolling mill equipment supplier Friedrich Kocks signed a contract for the supply of a reducing and sizing block type RSB® 370++/4 in 5.0 design at METEC 2023 in Düsseldorf, Germany. The block will be part of Vardhman’s SBQ rolling mill in Northern India and will expand the technological possibilities in the production of special steels at this site. Incorporated in 1973, the steel producer is based in Ludhiana, Punjab, India, and serves industries such as engineering, automotive, tractor, bearing and allied industries with high-quality steel products. The existing rolling mill consists of a modern reversing mill followed by two high stands in H/V arrangement, and produces approximately 200,000 t/a SBQ in straight bars within a finished size range of Ø 20 to 90mm onto the cooling bed. Vardhman specialises in the production and distribution of special steels.
in the roughing and intermediate mill, significantly reducing the number of required feeders. Any desired finished dimension from the entire dimensional range can be rolled with a small number of roll sets and minimum stand changes. The setting values for motor speeds, rolls and guides, as well as gear ratios, are calculated by Kocks’s Bamicon rolling configuration program, according to the desired end product. The block will feature an advanced safe ty cover, presented at METEC, including upgraded casing parts. Commissioning of the RSB is scheduled for the end of 2024.
