Robotic tagging station for medium section mill

The 3D reconstruction indicates the most suitable coordinates (nearby the centre of the head profile), avoiding any collisions with protruding or misaligned bars. The counting algorithms will count the number of pieces within the bundle itself, combining the information to form a repository interfaced with the L2 system. A QR code reader is included to double check the printed data (by laser printers in backup configuration) with bundle data coming from plant tracking. A coloured tag dispenser, included in the robotic cell, indicates special bundles with colour coding, with up to six different colours to be associated with the printed tag. Integrating a Siemens PLC, the processes’ outcomes are mapped through direct and indirect real time data exchange. Extrapolated information will drive operations within the robotic island, enhancing productivity. Safety access and control of the entire area will be handled through trapped keys handled by safety PLC, avoiding risky operations and ensuring the safety of maintenance operations. Steel Dynamics, Inc (SDI), one of the largest domestic steel producers and metals recyclers in the USA, will install an AIC automatic tagging solution based on robotic application. The robotic tag application will be integrated to tag bundles at the finishing end of the company’s medium section mill in Columbia City, Indiana, replacing time-consuming and repetitive operations as well enhancing workers’ safety by releasing them from manual operations in the finishing area. Non-halogenated flame-retardant grade for wire and cable applications

UV-stabilised Estane ZHF 90AM9 NAT 01 TPU is VDE 282 – a new option that has UL 94 V-0 and UL 105°C temperature ratings. It is a differentiated solution with very high mechanicals, flame-retardant properties and good surface aesthetics. Lubrizol Engineered Polymers has launched a non-halogenated, flame retardant grade that combines perfor- mance and a regulatory-compliant solution for wire and cable applications. The new Estane ZHF 90AM9 NAT 01 TPU, made without the use of halogens, has improved key performance attributes compared to standard materials. Lubrizol describes it as “a full, one-stop solution versus other resins available today which offer only a partial solution whenmeeting customer and certification demands.”
