H Folke Sandelin AB Lead extrusion and cable stripping equipment specialist H Folke Sandelin AB (HFSAB) from Motala, Sweden, will be co exhibiting at bothwire Southeast Asia and wire China with Niehoff Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co KG of Germany. HFSAB personnel will be available at both events to discuss the latest addition to the range, the high-output Type 5 lead extruder, with new technology for the main motor and gearbox and a new ergonomic look. In China, Troester is represented by its subsidiary Troester Machinery Shanghai (TMS), which is responsible for sales, after-sales service and production for the domestic market. Encore orders more British company PWM Ltd is to supply Encore Wire of McKinney, Texas, USA, with another three EP500 cold pressure welding machines. Encore Wire, which took delivery of nine EP500 cold welders in 2021, has ordered the additional machines as part of its ongoing drive to invest in technology that creates a safer and healthier working environment for employees. John Rhoads, research and development manager at Encore Wire, said, “Cold welding has been used in the stranding process for decades and with the EP500 we are now also able to cold weld copper and aluminium rod. Troester GmbH & Co KG Troester is a manufacturer of complete extrusion systems for the cable industry, comprising CV lines for XLPE and rubber cables, silicone insulation lines, sheathing and insulation lines, and a complete range of downstream equipment such as winders, caterpillars, capstans and accumulators. “This technology eliminates the need for a large energy source, and with no hot

The company will also introduce new semi-automatic die centring technology and lead extrusion controls for saving lead during the extrusion process. Company staff will be available to discuss why lead should be used instead of aluminium in wet applications. For more than 60 years, the lead extruder from HFSAB has been designed, manufactured and assembled only in Sweden, using the latest manufacturing techniques, to ensure that lead-sheathed cables are produced trouble-free and with a perfect moisture barrier. The HFSAB horizontal lead extruder is easy to install and maintain, requiring no special foundations. It is reliable and fully automatic, with a control system that enables continuous At wire China, the company will present information and new developments in the field of CCV and VCV lines for MV, HV and EHV cables up to 1,000kV; rubber CV and CCV lines up to 35kV; silicone insula tion lines with Triox ovens; and produc tion equipment for submarine cables. X-Compound is a member of the Troester Group specialised in complete systems for the compounding of plastics with the process steps of conveying, melt ing, dispersing, mixing and degassing. It will present kneader technology for the surfaces, sparks or fumes involved, the operator is not at risk of getting burned. The EP500 is user friendly, reliable and clean, and the safety control/gates prevent pinch points from the beginning to the end of the welding operation.” PWM managing and sales director Steve Mepsted said, “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Encore Wire and Joe Snee Associates, our US and Canadian distributor. Sales of the EP500 more than doubled in 2021 and we are experiencing high demand again this year.” The electro-pneumatic EP500 is PWM’s best-selling cold welder. Suitable for rod from 5 to 15mm (0.197" to 0.59"), the machine is semi-automatic, energy efficient and low maintenance. C28 W1 F26 W1 C16

operation for weeks with little or no variation in temperatures, wall thickness or concentricity. The lead wall thickness can be kept to a minimum with corresponding savings in lead. Energy efficient melting pots are available for 10-, 18-, 35- and 60-tonne capacities. HFSAB also produces cable-stripping machines – the CRRS and Model SM-H – both of which can remove individual layers without causing damage to the layer below, enabling the outer jacket, lead sheath or triple layer XLPE to be re applied and the cable repaired. The CRRS is used for the removal of outer sheathing materials such as HDPE with or without a bonded thin aluminium metallic sheath, PE, PVC or lead. H Folke Sandelin AB www.hfsab.com
