Håmex supplies tungsten carbide tools that it claims can last up to 50 times longer than steel tools. The demands for extreme precision include more than just the tools, and the company aims to be responsive to nail manufacturers’ demands and provide fast, reliable deliveries. Håmex has been building up a larger finished stock of tools to secure swift deliveries of standard cutting knife inserts for all common machine types and sizes. Star point and diamond point are standard, and are also available in a two-wire version. The cutter inserts come with 40° and 60° angles as standard.

Volker Gerth has made the following observations: Rectangular copper wires for EV technology: the automotive industry is focusing on electric drives. The goals of efficient electrical motors can only be reached by the use of rectangular- wound wires, insulated by high-temper- ature-resistant enamels. Any dimensional failure or surface defect will result in failure of the entire drive system. Therefore, the industry is asking for continuous production from drawn, round wire to enamelled, rectangular wire. In this regard, Fuhr is developing a competitive forming system that can be combined with any enamelling line. In-line wire dimension measurement: the dimensional systems available in the past have not been able to fulfil market demands like Industry 4.0 or Big Data. Fuhr has developed its own system, which works as a contact-measuring device. The data processing is done by means of a real-time computer system that allows measurement frequencies of 100 Hz and above. The data can be analysed in terms of process capacity and process capability, and later can be exported and stored for in-depth analysis for quality control purposes. An FFT analysis is provided in order to locate cyclic failures in the rolling machine’s drive system. Flat aluminium strips for cable armouring: the armouring of power cable with flat strips of aluminium alloys is a popular technology in North America. These strips provide both mechanical armouring and electrical shielding. The advantage of using strip rolled from wire rod compared to slit strip is based on apparent infinite production, which allows longer production runs of armouring machines. Due to the thin, parallel and rapid sample preparation with the ORCs, as well as the bottom-up focused and default set camera system of the VCPX5, the measurements are always fully reliable and without operator influence. Combined with the database connection software VCPEasy, the offline measuring process is fully automated with an immediate pass/fail feedback, either with the homemade CAQ system ProCable of VisioCablePro or any other system, eg Advaris ® . This all enables an increased efficiency compared to conventional methods. Due to the reliable and stable values, material use during production can be reduced. iiM states that calculations delivered by VisioCablePro for many well-known international cable manufacturers show that a VCPX5 system, along with a cutting device, reduce costs, so that the investment pays for itself within the first year of usage. iiM AG – Germany Website : www.iimag.eu Against the background of trade conflicts and an increasing number of embargoes that further limit the chances of free trade, companies start looking for alternatives for selling products. The focus of their activities shifts to the ASEAN region, a market with huge potential that is opening up step by step. During this year’s wire Southeast Asia, Kieselstein – a German producer of wire drawing machines – will explore the opportunities the Southeast Asian market has to offer. Kieselstein’s technology is interesting to those wire producers who intend to increase the quality of products and to Kieselstein International GmbH Stand: E12

The company has also increased its machining capacity by more than 50 per cent by investing in new tool grinding equipment. “A more persistent quality level of the end product and high technical availability become vital parts of the competitive advantage strategy for the most developed companies – and as a result it starts to make sense to invest more in the tooling and reliable production equipment,” said Mikael Dohrmann, managing director. Håmex – Sweden Website : www.hamex.se iiM AG Stand: G11 iiM will be presening VisioCablePro ® , its system for measuring cables and sample preparation with the VCPX5 cable measuring device and devices of the O-ring cutter family, which allows shadow-free and reliable measurements without user influence.
