5. Conclusions We successfully developed and evaluated 24-fibre-pair SC530 cable with 200μm diameter optical fibres. We confirmed that optical attenuation variation during the cabling process shows small variation from fibre’s original optical attenuation. The evaluation results show that our cable design is capable of delivering all the properties of 200μm diameter optical fibres to realise high transmission capacity optical communication systems. These results have become our baseline performance to achieve for future development of φ17mm cable with 24 fibre pairs. 6.
