In-line surface inspection Zumbach’s new-generation SIMAC® 40/70/120 replaces its predecessor in the range of surface inspection systems. Using image processing, the SIMAC meets requirements for in-line surface inspection of most extruded products, including cables, tubes and hoses made from plastic, rubber and other materials. With the consistent implementation of machine vision and machine learning, the SIMAC is a compact, industrial-proof system. The measuring field is 40, 70 or 120mm, depending on the model, and the diameter range is 2 to 108mm. Defects as small as 0.1mm can be detected, and the maximum scan rate is 140,000 scans/s. The system provides continuous in-line inspection of all surfaces and colours, and ultra-bright LED panels allow the detection of defects on the darkest surfaces. Four cameras with overlapping zones ensure 100 per cent coverage, even for small products. Advanced algorithms search the image for defects based on pre-trained examples, and any defects are stored in a database.
Data recording allows later analysis and defect detector training. The system is easily introduced into the production line using a side opening in the housing. The compact design allows easy maintenance. As an in-line measurement specialist, Zumbach is committed to research and development activities. Its priority is customer relationships through local presence combined with proven products, services, personal consultations and support. Zumbach Electronic AG www.zumbach.com
Combined coil-to-bar drawing machine
Miyazaki Machinery Systems, located in Kaizuka City, Osaka, in the west of Japan, specialises in manufacturing industrial machinery, with a focus on wire forming machines, to both domestic and international customers. The company initially produced wire rope manufacturing equipment, and has since expanded to handle wire and electric cable, low/high carbon steel, special steel, and cold-drawn shaft production equipment. Miyazaki has supplied various wire forming machines (including wire drawing machines, wire stranding machines and combined drawing machines) to steel manufacturers, secondary processing manufacturers and wire manufacturers both domestically and internationally. To date, it has delivered equipment to approximately 35 countries worldwide, exceeding 2,000 units. In 2011, it established Miyazaki Machinery Systems (Shanghai) Co, Ltd, to further expand services to international customers. In recent years, a focus has been on the company’s combined drawing machine, which manufactures precision shafts (cold drawn). The equipment was designed and manufactured to meet the stringent standards of Japanese automotive manufacturers. Miyazaki Machinery Systems Co Ltd www.miyazakijp.com
