History of the no twist coiler Jonas and Mathilda Hagstedt,

with perfect wire layering – a stark contrast to competitors managing only 2m/s at the time. At that moment, I realised that we have created something big and important for the wire industry. And so, we went on to sell the second machine for 15m/s.” More than 30 years later, the latest version of the machine enables fast and precise wire coiling at over 40m per second. After starting out with welding wire, Mr Hagstedt realised that the NTC had more potential and could be extended for use with different wire types. He encouraged one of his customers to try out the machine with spring wire, with positive results – no tangles, no scrap and springs of consistent quality. This led to Lämneå Bruk presenting the No Twist Coiler for Spring Wire at wire Düsseldorf 2016. The NTC reverses the pre-twist and the wire comes out twist-free and straight, resulting in springs of consistent and even quality while reducing wire consumption per spring. The No Twist Coiler 1200 was launched in 2017. This upgraded version of the NTC allowed two coilers to be used next to each other. In 2023, the first NTC 1700 was sold. One of the differentiating factors of the newest NTC models is the coiling tech nique, which replaces gooseneck and

spooling technologies. The machines are said to consistently produce perfect ly pattern-laid coils of up to 4.5 metric tons, delivering straight and twist-free wire in inverted carriers. This feature ensures productivity and performance, eliminating scrap and enabling fewer stops when uncoiling. When the NTC is combined in-line with a drawing machine, it offers unlimited speed capability for the coiler, allowing the drawing line speed to increase. The straightforward cast and helix set-up further contribute to productivity and operator-friendliness. The uncoiling process of the wire package allows continuous pay-out, eliminating the need for wire carrier rotation during uncoiling. The large wire package also offers convenient shipping options to the end consumer. The NTC can be used for all ferrous and non-ferrous wire types with wire diame ters from 0.3 to 14mm, and is suitable for drums of different shapes and sizes. Lämneå Bruk AB www.lamnea.se
