All good things come in threes ❍ A Kocks RSB 370++/4 currently operating in China

The RSB 5.0 will be located as a finishing unit after the roughing and intermediate mill, consisting of 20 stands in H/V arrangement. Kocks’s scope of supply includes a roll shop for offline stand and guide preparation, as well as supervision of erection and commissioning. The start-up of the new RSB is scheduled for 2021. This will be the third RSB (reducing and sizing block) within the Baosteel Group, following installations at Baosteel Shanghai #5 in 2002 and at Shaoguan’s wire rod and BIC line in 2018. With the decision to implement a Kocks RSB 370++/4 in the existing 490,000t/a bar mill line, Shaoguan intends to further expand and strengthen its share in the demanding SBQ sector for high quality engineering steels for the automotive industry. The RSB 370++/4 will produce straight bars in a range between 17 and 80mm

Guangdong Shaoguan Iron & Steel Co is continuing to trust in the three-roll technology of Friedrich Kocks GmbH, by selecting the German company to supply an RSB 370++/4 in 5.0 design. Shaoguan Iron & Steel, located in China’s Guangdong province, belongs to the Baosteel Group – the largest steel producer in China and the second largest in the world. Baosteel manufactures premium steel products with high technologies and a high added value, in three major product categories: carbon steel, stainless steel and special steel.
