More sustainable production with new South Korean minimill

Taking advantage of the latest technology was at the forefront of a decision by YK Steel in South Korea to commission SMS group to install a new minimill at its site in Dangjin.

The mill, with integrated melting, casting, rolling and all electrical and auto- mation systems, will start production in 2025.

The company had originally planned to relocate and upgrade an existing plant at the end of 2021, but opted for a completely new mill to take advantage of the latest technology on offer.
