perspective and collaborate with our customers to ensure we meet stringent specifications.” The delivery of the Johan Castberg order was critical to ensure a key project milestone was met. With 19 DBSCs ordered for this project and multiple vendors involved, FES had to closely control and monitor the supply chain to ensure timely completion. Mr Anderson continued, “With the Liuhua project we were presented with challenges related to high design loads. By collaborating closely with the customer, our team came up with an alternative design to one of the connections to provide a solution.” Included in the scope of work for the Vorlich project were bespoke tests at the company’s facilities, including simulated installation and loading tests as well as full fit and function checks. A provider of fluid transfer systems to oil and gas operators has secured four new orders for its diver bend stiffener connectors (DBSCs). Flexible Engineered Solutions (FES) International is delivering a total of 31 DBSCs to projects located across Asia, Africa and Europe throughout 2019 and 2020. The DBSC orders are to supply projects taking place in the Johan Castberg field in the Barents Sea, Norway; the Vorlich field in the North Sea, UK; the Liuhua field in the South China Sea; and the Zinia 2 field on the Atlantic Coast in Angola. FES International’s DBSC design features a patented automatic end fitting release system that allows for the connection of the bend stiffener and release of the umbilical without subsea intervention. In-house assembly and testing facilities allow FES International to rigorously test all connectors produced, with all items undergoing numerous fit and function checks before delivery. Rob Anderson, managing director of FES International, said, “We have long- established relationships with all four
customers who, over the years, have come to trust that FES will deliver well- engineered, robust equipment on time and to budget. “Each project we work on is unique and there are often bespoke design requirements, time frames and complex challenges we have to work around. We approach each with a fresh
Forum for steel pipeline coatings and protection offers technical updates
The conference sessions will look into the market, coatings for longevity and performance, and innovative procedures for coating applications. In the session on first-hand examples of industry challenges, papers will include Midcoast Energy and the USDOT PHMSA, as well as a panel discussion looking at the challenges ahead. The event attracts operators, asset owners, contractors and lay engineers, raw material suppliers, pipe coaters, specifiers, machinery suppliers and testing and certification organisations. AMI – UK
provides delegates with the chance to participate in two days of technical and commercial conference presentations with networking opportunities. AMI (Applied Market Information) has organised events in the oil and gas industry for the past 12 years. Using internal market research, it offers attendees a forum to network anddiscuss industry challenges, developments and opportunities. The programme has been selected by an advisory board that includes expertise from AMI and external representatives who are leaders in their field and bring their experience and knowledge.
Pipeline coatings for steel pipelines create a complex challenge for the steel pipe industry. From factory and in-situ coating procedures and machinery to a trained and skilled workforce, coaters must also consider that the materials need to offer performance and longevity through extreme conditions, while providing anti-corrosion properties and conforming to local, national and global standards. The Pipeline Coating conference is focused on polymeric coatings and their protection for offshore and onshore steel pipelines for the oil and gas and water industries. Taking place in Houston, Texas, USA, the event opens its doors on 5 and 6 November, and
