products & developments Transportable pipe beveller for fast and accurate bevelling Ridgid ® , a manufacturer of tools and equipment, has introduced the B-500 transportable pipe beveller. The B-500 is a compact and transportable unit that easily mounts to the end of pipes 4" or greater in diameter, with a maximum wall thickness of ½", as well as on flat plates up to ½" thickness. Interchangeable heads allow bevels to be cut accurately at 30°, 37.5° or 45°. The unit features speed monitoring, with LED indicators that assist the operator in keeping the beveller moving at an optimal pace. This ensures a consistently machined finished bevel in a single pass. The compact design allows a single operator to quickly set up and create bevels in a wide range of applications. The simple operation allows a user of any skill level to operate and produce high quality results. “The B-500 has distinct advantages over other bevelling methods,” said Anca Jitea, product manager at Ridgid. “Speed and accuracy are really what sets it apart. Customers are impressed with the quality it produces in just one quick pass.” The B-500 beveller sets up and bevels 12" Sch.40 pipe in one pass, in less than two minutes, without flames or sparks, replacing traditional bevelling methods such as grinding. However, it does require a clean, straight cut on the pipe, for which Ridgid recommends its Pipe Cutter 258 for 2.5" to 8" or 258XL for 8" to 12".
