New beam welding service offered Barnshaws Section Benders is now offering beam welding services. The introduction of new equipment is part of the company’s strategy to provide customisable and adaptable construction components with short lead times. It is possible to produce sections up to 19m long. The T and I welding machine also enables the manufacture of fabricated and tapered tees. In addition, components can be offered with a single or multi-run fillet, depending on the intended use of the structure.

capability, by increasing productivity, and ensuring more consistent and accurate weld quality and more predictable welding production rates. The additional utility will broaden the company’s competencies, expanding from the traditional metal bending services such as beam bending, tube rolling and press braking. Greg North, commercial director at Barnshaws, commented, “This new T and I welding machine gives us increased capability to support requirements from customers in demanding industries. While we already operate a number of different machines for various steelwork purposes, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our service, and offer more choice to our customers.” Barnshaw Section Benders Ltd – UK

The manufacturing capacity at Barnshaws’ dedicated facility has been enhanced with the arrival of a new semi-automated submerged arc T and I welding machine to further support customers in the oil and gas, structural, general engineering and machinery industries. The new welding machine, combined with existing plate cutting facilities, can manufacture custom-sized T and I beams from plate steel. The beams can measure up to 1m in depth and 0.5m in width, and can have a maximum linear density of 600 kg/m.

The newequipment allowsBarnshaws to offer CE-marked welded products. This is in addition to the existing certification for structural steel components for which the company has the highest accreditation of execution class 4. The new service will complement Barnshaws’ Porthole Beams™ manufacturing portfolio, which offers profiled plates, beam fabrication, portholing and cambering. How production of ERW pipes has changed

It has been more than a century since the ERW pipe industry first began. There are now tens of thousands of production lines with millions of industrial workers around the world and it is still expanding rapidly, according to Dalian Field. For a long time, due to the low investment threshold and short payback period, the ERW pipe industry was dominated by small enterprises with poor profitability. However, worker welfare standards are improving and fewer people are interested in dirty and tiring jobs in poor conditions. Advanced technologies are constantly being invented that improve efficiency and environmental standards. The important factors are now capacity, delivery period, lower cost, lower labour costs and how to make workers’ jobs easier and safer. The company that can achieve all of these things will prevail in the market. The industry is becoming increasingly integrated and more focused on automation. In the future, a few dominant companies will merge, which will centralise the purchase of raw materials and administration, and a dozen workers will soon accomplish the same as a large factory currently can.
