Flow measurement solution for partially filled pipes
for use in the presence of hydrogen sulphide (H 2 S) in wastewater applications, the meter replaces open channel measurements with an in-line closed measure- ment solution that pro- vides a safe and clean working environment.
Krohne, Inc has announced the Tidalflux 2300 F, an electromagnetic flow meter that provides reliable flow measure- ment in pipes between 10 and 100 per cent full. It features a non-contact sensor that is unaffected by oils and fats floating on the surface. Available in diameters to fit pipes up to 64", Tidalflux 2300 F has high chemical and abrasion resistance, and features an integrated, non-contact capacitive level measurement and approval for ATEX zone 1 for use in hazardous environments. The flow meter is suitable for municipal or industrial wastewater transport applications, and can also be used for measurement of effluent brine from dredging, mining or sea/well water injection applications. Wet-calibrated at the factory using a direct volume comparison, Tidalflux 2300 F does not require on-site calibration. The meter’s accuracy in partially filled pipes is <1 per cent of full scale, and the accuracy in full pipes is <1 per cent of the measured value. Suitable
The electrodes are mounted at a height of ten per cent from the pipe bottom, ensuring that they are always wetted to avoid cor- rosion. The capacitive level sensors are integrated in the liner, and are unaffected by H 2 S and any residues that may be floating on the water surface or particles in the water. Ranging from diameters DN200 to 1,600 (8" to 64"), the Tidalflux 2300 F features a measuring tube with an abrasion-resistant polyurethane liner and high chemical resistance. Its smooth surface prevents build-up of fat and other deposits, minimising the need for regular cleaning.
Tidalflux 2300 F electromagnetic flow meter
Tidalflux 2300 F is available with IFC 300 F (PF) remote converter in field housing, for extended diagnostic func- tions including application and device diagnostic as well as out-of-spec tests. For subsoil installation or applications in areas that can be partially flooded, the meter can be ordered as a protection rating IP68 version with special coating. Spiral pipeplant inMexico ready for operation Experts predict that in North America alone, over 10,000 km of new pipeline will be laid per year by 2020. Most of that will be spiral pipes. comes on a hot rolled coil (HRC). The spiral mill forms the diameter and welds the spiral pipe within the first step by tack welding. is done directly on the control panel and implemented by servo motors. The pipe plant also includes various equipment for inspecting the large diameter pipes in accordance with the API 5L standard.
In a further process, the final pipes are welded by several final welding stands with a submerged arc welding process. The integrated coil preparation stand ensures short changeover times, high occupational safety, and an exact 90° cut of the beginning of the band. A crane transfer is no longer necessary. All relevant work steps on the spiral mill are automated: settings are no longer made manually; instead, setting
Tuberías Procarsa, a manufacturer of steel pipe, is equipped for this trend: the company, with headquarters in Monclova, Mexico, has put a spiral pipe plant from Schuler into operation and used it to produce large diameter pipes. The offline spiral pipe plant can produce pipes with diameters from 508 to 2,235mm (20" to 88"), and lengths of 12 to 24.4m. The raw material – up to 25.4mm-thick sheet metal band made of high-quality steel (up to X100) –
Ultrasonics, X-rays and water pressure stands are used. The production capacity will be increased by 200,000 tons per year thanks to the new system.
