Developing and distributing a wider range of steels
Marcegaglia has created a production mix strictly linked to the structure and organisation of the entire group, ranging from the processing of carbon and stainless steel tubes and flat products, to products for the building and construction industry (with the production of insulated panels and crash barriers, for example), and in electromechanical components, composites, energy and DIY sectors. The reorganisation has led to a regroup- ing of Marcegaglia’s three main businesses – Carbon Steel (tubes and flat products), Specialties (stainless and drawn steels) and Plates (heavy plate manufacture) – into separate companies owned by holding corporation Marcegaglia Steel.
Marcegaglia, an Italian steel processing corporation with an output of 5mn tonnes per year and production plants on three continents, has completed a major internal restructuring and reorganisation of its steel operations, aiming for strengthening and ‘industry- leading growth’. Chairman and CEO Antonio Marcegaglia commented, “With the aim of greater transparency and clarity, we have completed the split-off of our non-core equity holdings (tourism, white goods components, building) from our core business, steel processing, which we aim to focus on and strengthen.”
