Olimpia80 commissions large HF tube mill for Mexican precision steel tube producer

OLIMPIA80 has consolidated its position in the Mexican market after it was recently commissioned by a large steel company for a HF tube mill for carbon steel high precision tubes. A HF tube mill covers a range from OD 60mm up to OD 172mm and wall thickness from 1.5mm up to 7.1mm with all corresponding hollow section. To perform restrictive tolerance, in accordance with ASTM A513 and ASTM A787, Olimpia80 supplied the HF pipe mill with the latest technology and advanced features. It supplied a turnkey system, finding a custom-made solution to match the specific needs of the customer. The layout has also been designed to optimise the available floor space in the factory. The tube mill is equipped with a complete automatised entry section with the aim to reduce insertion

strip time. Independent motorisation for each stand in order to equilibrate the used power and to better control the torque in every passage, consequentially reducing the rolls wearing and power consumption. An innovative cut- off machine, equipped with a new structure and implementing software that gives the opportunity to cut, at a settled frequency, a tube sample with 300mm up to 1000mm length.

It also includes quick-change system using cassettes that helps the user to reduceset-up time.Themainadvantages of the technology are: speed and ease of changing the profile dimensions. Simple and easy maintenance and simplicity in the software utilisation and high production capability.
