BLM Group announces two-week long INTUBE 19 Expo

BLM Group has announced dates for its in-house INTUBE Expo event, which brings together a wide range of tube and flat sheet processing from across the group’s diverse portfolio. The event will take place at its ADIGE and ADIGE SYS facilities in Levico Terme, Italy. The event runs from Monday 30 September to Saturday 12 October 2019. The focus of INTUBE 19 is to highlight the productivity gains that can be gained from the tube and flat sheet processing systems from BLM Group as well as the strong environmental credentials of the latest machines. The event will also examine the story behind the BLM Group and how it develops long-term partnerships with customers to ensure they are maximising their tube and sheet processing capabilities. In terms of manufacturing performance, attention will fall on three key machine groups. These are the Lasertube LT7 fibre laser processing machine for tubes and profiles; the latest development of the LT-Free series of machines capable of simultaneous five-axis laser cutting of tubes and complex shape components; tube bending systems such as the E-Turn CNC mandrel tube benders for pipes and profiles; and the first public exhibition of the new DH4010VGP twin-turret, twin-head, 3D wire bending machine.

The event will highlight potential productivity gains

Its agility provides freedom to cut bent tubes, hydroformed components, tubular assemblies or stamped parts that can be accommodated on a table measuring up to 3,000mm x 1,000mm. The system offers many configurations, including robot manipulation of the part along with other automated systems. E-Turn is a series of CNC pipe benders developed to process tube and profiles up to 50.8mm in diameter. The machine is capable of left- and right-hand bends with either a fixed or variable radius, with the ability to process single or multiple radii mode up to 50.8mm in diameter. The CNC controls all aspects of the bending process, making set-up simple and efficient. DH4010VGP is a twin-turret, twin- head, 3D wire bending machine. Each of the two independent 3D bending heads have two turrets each, both of which can be in operation at the same time, helping to reduce the unsupported length of wire and thereby flex or whip, leading to faster processing times. Both right- and left-hand processing is possible with wire measuring up to 10mm in diameter. Like all of BLM Group’s tube and wire bending machines the DH4010VGP is all-electric, which delivers cost savings in terms of energy consumption, as well as creating a more pleasant working environment for its users.

“These three machine systems are a small sample of the technology that will be on show at INTUBE19,” said Jon Curtis, sales director at BLM Group UK. “Visitors will see examples of every machine in the BLM Group range of products with technology ranging from sawing, end-forming, all-electric tube and wire bending, through to fibre laser processing of tube and sheet, as well as process management software, such as BLM’s VGP3D three-dimensional programming software and integration of BLM products into customers’ ERP systems.” Any UK-based users of this technol- ogy wishing to attend INTUBE19 should contact BLM Group UK. LT7 is a fibre laser system for the pro- cessing of tube, whether round, square or open profile. Maximum capacities are 152.4mm diameter for round tube and 152.4 x 152.4mm for square tube, with a maximum tube weight of 23kg/m. The system is fully automated and can handle bundle and single bar loading

operations, with three un- loading positions to suit indi- vidual applications. The 3kW fiber laser can process in 3D with the Active Tilt feature of the cutting head significantly enhancing productivity. LT-Free is a fibre laser system offering full simulta- neous five-axis laser cutting of any metal, including cop- per, aluminium, brass, mild steel, stainless steel and galvanised material.

MESSE Düsseldorf GmbH has become the organiser of Saw EXPO, the special- interest trade fair for companies in the sawing sector. “With this move Messe Düsseldorf will take over the trade fair for sawing and industrial cutting as manufacturing technologies, which perfectly fits in with our growing Metals and Flow Technologies portfolio,” said Friedrich- Georg Kehrer, global portfolio director at Messe Düsseldorf. From 8 to 11 June 2021 Saw EXPO will be held in Friedrichshafen for the first time. “This is an ideal destination since many producers come from the South of Germany and the neighbouring countries of Switzerland, Austria and Italy,” explained Daniel Ryfisch, deputy director of the global portfolio Metals and Flow Technologies. The Lake Constance region is one of Europe’s most innovative economic regions. A host of SMEs work alongside traditional family-owned businesses, rubbing shoulders with global players in the world economy. In alternate years Saw EXPO will be held as part of Tube Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf, starting from 2020. It will be organised as a special pavilion for sawing and cutting in Hall 6 of the Düsseldorf exhibition centre. Later in 2020 the first spin-off is already scheduled to feature as part of Tube China 2020 in Shanghai. Sawing, slitting and industrial cutting play a prominent role in tube technology. Tubes of various materials are sized this way and adapted to various industrial applications.

Kusakabe builds state-of-the-ar t pipe mill for Mannesmann factory in Mexico

can be smoothly replaced and adjusted because access to the inside of the safety cover is safe and easy. Kusakabe was founded in 1916 and this year marks its 104 th year in business. The company commenced its involvement with the tube and pipe industry in 1959 and has been continuing its development ever since. Currently, a full range of Kusakabe ERW mills and associated equipment are available for all sectors of the tube and pipe industry. The company is one of the few specialist manufacturers of these mills globally and benefits from an experienced and innovative design team. The high-quality workmanship of the manufacturing and installation teams used for integrated pipe manufacturing systems means that Kusakabe is highly regarded by pipe manufacturers around the world. By processing and assembling at its own factory, Kusakabe can carry out thorough quality control checks, which enables the manufacture of high quality pipe mills. Its research and development of new products has led it to increase its market share in Japan and it now also supplies mills to more than 30 countries around the world. The El Salto plant at MPTM began its production of welded pipes in June 2007. The company employs approximately 150 people and annually produces 18,000 tons of welded pipes and 10,000 tons of welded cold drawn steel pipes. It ships 20 million cut pipes anually. MPTM is strengthening its production, sales, and research systems for high quality pipe for camshafts and stabilisers that mainly contribute to the North American automotive industry. Linked to the recent tightening of environmental regulations, the need for the weight reduction of automobiles is arising all over the world. The demand for important parts using original pipes that meet this need is expanding year by year. Kusakabe Electric & Machinery Co Ltd – Japan Email: sales@kusakabe.com Website: www.kusakabe.com

enables reliable annealing of the welded part, which prevents it from cracking in the accumulator. (2) Forming mill: a high rigidity pipe mill that can handle tensile strength up to 900 MPa and enables the production of high-quality pipes for important parts using boron steel. The improvement of the mill’s reliability and the enhancement of the reproducibility can reduce material cost and overall manufacturing cost. (3) Quick change system: the quick- change system, with stand change carriage, enables stand change in only ten minutes, ensuring maximum production time. (4) Modular sizing stand: a heavy gauge modular sizing stand consisting of three rolls, resulting in space saving, quick roll exchange and the production of high-quality pipes with high OD cor- rection accuracy and high productivity. (5) Press cut-off: double-cut press cut-off enables accurate and high-speed synchronous cutting by servo control. It has a program that can cope with various press cutting speeds and, therefore, the upper blade life can be extended by reducing the pressing speed when cutting high-tensile steel pipes or thick- walled pipes. Furthermore, the blades

KUSAKABE Electric & Machinery Co Ltd has supplied a complete pipe mill for a factory expansion being undertaken by Mannesmann Precision Tubes Mexico, SA de CV (MPTM). The main objective of the new plant is to manufacture steel pipes for automo- biles, and important related parts, that could not be easily procured in Mexico, such as automotive stabilisers using bo- ron steel. The maximum diameter pipe is 76.2mm (3"), the maximum thick- ness is 8mm and the maximum tensile strength is 900 MPa. Kusakabe first introduced a pipe mill to Mannesmann at the Hamm plant in Germany in 2000 and the mill was highly regarded for its long-term reliability. It therefore made sense for the equivalent mill to be fitted at the plant in Mexico. The new pipe mill that was recently introduced to MPTM can be used with materials such as 26MnB5, 34MnB5 and HSLA700, and can manufacture steel pipes for automobiles and important parts such as camshafts and stabilisers. Its main features are: (1) Annealer: a strip joint burner using natural gas is equipped and the burning time management run by timer control

Lower losses from efficient SiC transistors WHEREAS some silicon carbide transistors can be less short circuit resilient, EFD Induction uses a type that is just as rugged as IGBTs, but provides higher efficiency and uses less energy. “After extensive research and testing of several silicon carbide transistors, we are confident that our choice is efficient and resilient,” said global sales director of tube and pipe, Peter Runeborg. Mr Runeborg, pointing out that this also makes the welders more eco-friendly. The design of the EFD Induction Weldac with SiC inverter modules always indicates the total efficiency from the mains supply to the welding coil terminal. For a set for one-turn coil with standard busbar, the efficiency has been measured to be 92.4 per cent. “During testing of the transistors, the inverter efficiency was actually measured at 99.3 per cent at full output current,” said Mr Runeborg.

EFD Induction offers a comprehensive range of solutions for the tube and pipe industry. The Weldac high-output, solid- state welders provide efficient welding of stainless steel, aluminium, low-carbon steel and high-strength steel. The easy-to-operate, short-circuit- proof welders come with a five-year warranty on the inverter modules and driver cards. EFD Induction has installed thousands of heating solutions for a wide range of industrial applications, bringing the benefits of induction technology to many manufacturing and service companies.

EFD Induction first introduced silicon carbide transistor technology in 2014 and has now begun using the SiC inverters in its solid-state tube welders. SiC inverters have proven to work efficiently in high-frequency welders. Currently, there are more than 40 EFD Induction units with SiC inverter technology in operation in Asia, Europe and North America, with power sizes ranging from 25 kW up to 1,850 kW/ 300 kHz. “The main reason for changing to SiC transistors in power supplies is improved efficiency, which means lower power losses during operation,” said

Linsinger to celebrate 80 th anniversary LINSINGER, the Austrian family- owned sawing and milling machine manufacturer, is celebrating its 80 th anniversary. The company is based in Steyrermuehl in north-west Austria and has evolved from a one-man business to a global player in sawing and milling technology.

Linsinger’s origins reach back 80 years. Dr Linsinger laid the foundations for the company in Vienna, relocating to Steyrermuehl in 1959. Dr Linsinger purchased HW Adler in Vienna and thus laid the foundation for the company today. Adler manufactured small electrical machines, switchgears and electrical accessories. The development of the company was quite varied after the second World War bombing in Vienna and the total devastation of the firm’s building. After relocation to Steyrermuehl the company was renamed Linsinger. Since setting up in Steyrermuehl, Linsinger has been a major local employer and currently has more than The better way to deburr tubing Go from this to this with Chamfer Master Tool Circular Form Face Tool After Before The Original U.S. Pat. #3.402.624

400 employees. One of the essential milestones for the sawing and milling division was the takeover of Wagner Saws in 1996. Wagner was the world’s largest manufacturer of sawing machines and brought great value to Linsinger. The takeover of Wagner granted Linsinger access to a large market. In 2004 the multicut tube cut-off machine MC4 was developed and advanced to be used either stationary or mobile. Just one year later the first Linsinger RFM pipe bevelling machine was delivered. The current success this year of 28 sawing machines, multicut tube cut- off machines and plate edge milling machines on order originates from the wide product range of the Linsinger portfolio. Additionally, the seamless tube and large tube sectors were able to increase their sales continuously over recent years. In order to handle the large number of orders, Linsinger is extending its factory floor space by 5,000m 2 . This new production space will be officially inaugurated in combination with the 80 th anniversary in October this year.

Linsinger is not only investing in its current technologies and production plants, but also in a large research and development department and further strategic fields, explained sales director Michael Steinkogler. “Along with our technical concepts we are able to offer excellent after- sales service worldwide. Additionally, Linsinger offers saw blades exclusively for every machine. Hence our customers are prevented from production downtime due to our saw blades being in stock at all times.” Linsinger Maschinenbau GmbH – Austria Fax: +43 7613 8840 951 Email: maschinenbau@linsinger.com Website: www.linsinger.com
