MTM flying cut-off machine A100 ET is an Italian company that specialises in producing longitudinal welded steel tubes and has subsidiaries in Germany, France, the UK and the USA. It decided to boost its production output in more competitive markets in order to further satisfy customer requirements. As part of this strategy, which included supplying customised longitudinally welded tubes with specific characteristics and tolerances, the company contracted Officine MTM SpA to deliver a high-speed flying cut-off cold saw for its tube mill line. Since the MTM flying cut-off A100 CS SPL was commissioned at the plant, ET has achieved cutting quality and productivity improvements. The new unit also features important technical innovations that allow it to cut

high-tensile strength material with high quality and precision at any working speed. The model of MTM flying cut-off machine belongs to the single-blade cold saw cut-off family with a cutting range from 25 to 160mm. It is equipped with versatile icon-based software, enabling an operator to optimise speed and type of blade for any production size. Every machine, and every line, can be implemented to comply with Industry 4.0; the entire work cycle and production process can also be interfaced with the customer’s MES system. In the last two years Mair Research has commissioned three complete integrated cold draw bench and finishing lines, of which two are located in Europe and one in Mexico. The features of these lines include

chamfering, visual inspection, NDT interfacing, packaging and strapping of finished tubes in bundles. In the last ten years Mair Research has designed and manufactured its own cold draw benches, straighteners and pointing machines, all with technical features such as high productivity and reliability; customised line manufactured according to the customer’s needs; user friendly equipment with quick adjustments for settings and size changeovers; and the possibility to
