Still an Italy-based family business after 25 years

Acciaitubi SpA producing tubes in Italy for 50 years ACCIAITUBI SpA was founded more than 50 years ago by the Berera family in Lecco, Northern Italy. Today, Dr Marco Berera represents the third entrepreneurial generation, guiding the company into the future but with the same strong values in mind: its own history, the sense of belonging to the territory, and the knowledge of the product and manufacturing processes. The company exports 50 per cent of its production, and is targeting 70 per cent. The company’s production range includes gas and water welded and seamless tubes, ASTM pipes, painted tubes, conduit pipes, boiler tubes, structural and scaffolding tubes, Sendzimir, pickled and high resistance tubes. All are endowed with the best quality certifications. One of Acciaitubi’s latest initiatives is Tekne, a new type of high quality steel produced by reducing emissions and fuel consumption. Its most important users have created the Tekne community, a network that aims to finance research projects in energy saving, sustainable development and improvement of the production results. Acciaitubi joined the project, together with CNR, the Italian national research institution, donating 50 cents to research for every tonne of steel purchased. “Innovation, excellence, social and environmental commitment have always been among the values we profess,” said Dr Berera. In June 2011, the company earned the UNI EN ISO 14001:2004, the top environmental certification. This document is an additional security for Acciaitubi’s customers that the products they buy are made in full compliance with the environment protection rules. After the hard work of its staff, Acciaitubi can say it is a truly zero-impact company.

producers of consumables, and relationships with some of Italy’s most important builders of tube mills and high frequency welders, CONTRAST has become an important point of reference in the tube industry. This is because of its ability to rapidly supply customers in Italy and abroad with high quality products such as ferrites, epoxy glass tubes, impeders and copper inductors as well as products for inside and outside tube scarfing, HSS saw blades, friction circular saw blades, capacitors and triode valves. CONTRAST is also valued for its ability to assist, advise and support its customers in the strategic choices necessary to obtain the best production results.

CONTRAST was founded in 1994 by Carlo Icardi and specialises in selling high quality consumables for the tube industry. The company was the natural evolution of Carlo’s thirty years of experience as a highly specialised technician in the high frequency welding of tubes. His daughter Cristina, who he trained and shared experience with, decided to follow in his footsteps; not an obvious choice in the early 1990s in what was still a heavily male-dominated market. This was a strong sign of trust for a young woman starting off her new career in the field of steel tube production. After 25 years that choice has proved to be a successful one. Carlo Icardi unfortunately died suddenly in 2014 and Cristina took over at CONTRAST. Thanks to her constant and direct care for the company and the many collaborations with Europe’s main THE Radius 40-315 band saw is designed to perform saddle cuts on plastic pipes made of HDPE, PP and PV. The saw performs precise radial cuts, and features a trolley that slides gradually on a scaled instrument, allowing fast configuration of the cutting radius. The pipe support can slide and block small pieces of pipe down to 15cm length (6"). The saw rotation during cutting is executed manually and in completely
