extends to 550 A. The torch low- ers the error rate via an interfer- ence-free wire guide, shielding gas coverage of the arc range and safe current contacting. At the same time, the use of consumables is reduced because of the large material cross section of the contact tips (M7/M9 instead of M6/M8 as is common in the industry). Better heat dissipation prevents overheating and extends service life. Shielding gas consumption remains low because gas losses are prevented, and less finishing work is required due to the minimisation of spatter.

EWM AG has added the PM series for professional users to its range of MIG/MAG welding torches. The newly designed grip ensures a comfortable hold, even over long periods, and illuminates the working area with motion-activated LED lighting. Weld spatters can be reduced, saving time on finishing work. The use of consumables is also reduced, providing potential for savings. The standard welding torches of the PM series are suitable for use on any commercially available welding machine with Euro torch connector. The grip with rubber inserts is shaped ergonomically, and an anti-kink device, balanced design and reduced weight contribute to fatigue-free working, even during positional welding. The integrated LED lighting of the new PM welding torch ensures that everything is clearly visible, even in dark spots on the workpiece, for example. It is activated automatically as soon as the welding torch is moved. This independence from the torch trigger provides protection from incorrect operation and unintentional arc striking when bringing the welding torch close to the component. On the standard torch, the torch trigger can optionally be installed at the top. Optionally available function torches make it possible to control welding parameters remotely. The OLED graphic display shows the welding parameters in a user-friendly manner at the welding site. With the high-end RD3X version the welder can use ewm Xnet and component management to access a welding sequence plan. The welding parameters are set automatically by the system from the stored WPS. The new PM welding torch is avail- able in numerous variants, including gas- or water-cooled, and with short or long necks. The welding current range
