Steel tubes produced by drawing benches or floating mandrel machines

TECNOFAR SpA produces stainless steel and special nickel alloy tubes, welded and cold drawn, suitable for many kinds of applications with the possibility of providing tubes in full hard or bright annealed condition over its entire range. The drawing process, carried out by means of drawing benches or floating mandrel machines, ensures product compliance with tight tolerances on diameter and thickness and allows modulation of material hardness to customer requirements. By varying production stages, Tecnofar can obtain hardness values between 160 and 470HV, tensile strength values (Rm) between 580 and 1,700N/mm 2 , and yield strength between 240 and 1,200N/mm 2 , with elongation of more than 50 per cent, for austenitic steels. These features make Tecnofar’s tubes suitable for use in a range of applications, from those that require high hardness and elasticity (such as needles used in the medical sector or in the food industry), to those in which high malleability and deformability are necessary for machining, bending, hydroforming and expanding. These characteristics are required, for example, in component production for the automotive industry, hot water,

and in coils with diameters between 1 and 25mm and thickness between 0.15 and 2mm. This equipment allows the best characteristics of grain size index, malleability and corrosion resistance, according to the strictest production standards.

With 11 forming and welding lines, each equipped with an induction furnace for heat treatment, and two off-line controlled-atmosphere annealing ovens, Tecnofar is able to produce tubes in bar with diameters between 0.3 and 76mm and thickness between 0.1 and 3mm;
