TRUMPF continues to invest in smart production INDUSTRIAL machine manufacturing company TRUMPF has opened a new smart factory at its headquarters in Ditzingen, Germany. themselves how efficient sheet metal fabrication works.

The smart factory is divided into three production halls that cover a total of 5,000m 2 and, along with Chicago, USA, and Taicang in China, Ditzingen has become the third TRUMPF location to have a fully connected manufacturing facility. The TRUMPF showroom in the UK is a starting point for British manufacturers to explore the latest Trumpf technology live in action. It has been upgraded with the newest sheet metal machinery for laser cutting, bending, punching, laser marking, power tools and to provide all the resources for companies to create, fine-tune and analyse smart factory solutions that best suit their specific needs and budget. Also new is an interactive virtual showroom tour that enables customers to keep up to date with the latest TRUMPF technology from the comfort of their own offices.

“We have 30 machines connected to each other in our new smart factory. Connectivity helps reduce scrap rates and processing time as well as boosting efficiency. Nowhere else in the world offers our particular mix of problem-solving skills for sheet metal fabrication,” said Heinz-Jürgen Prokop, chief executive officer, machine tools at TRUMPF.

Designed as a fully connected manufacturing environment, the new facility is already producing sheet metal parts for the company’s machine tools. The smart factory also serves as a demonstration centre – a place where SMEs and other businesses can see for
