TK MASCHINENBAU GmbH (TKM), based in Austria, is a global manu- facturer of special machines, equipment and tools for the steel and non-ferrous metal processing industry. Based on many years of industrial experience in processing, the machines and equipment are carefully tailored to the needs of the customer. A longitudinal weld seam milling machine was recently commissioned and put into operation for a large European pipe manufacturer by TKM. These lines are used to produce high- quality welds in pipe and container constructions. The internally welded thick- walled tubes, or containers with wall thicknesses of 10 to 200mm, are automatically milled from the outside by a special circumferential milling tool. The milling for the weld follows the previous measurement process. This means that inaccuracies of the pipe are automatically compensated for during milling by the two synchronously running axes. TKM’s goal is to provide customers with economic, innovative and sus- tainable solutions and services that offer significant benefits to its manufacturing process. Its expertise and high levels of cooperation with its customers are reflected in its completed equipment and bespoke solutions. TKM’s cutting, milling, chamfering and deep-hole drilling technology, as well as a large degree of process automation, have been praised by its customers, the company said. TKM is particularly focused on the following areas: weld seam preparation
