Compact but heavyweight sawing solution THE new KKS 500 series from framag features a compact design (saw station dimensions 2,100 x 3,200 x 2,200mm) and a mass of 9 tonnes, making it suitable for use in heavy industry (dust, dirt, three-shift operation) and in forging. The hydraulic pipework and the electrical cables are maintenance-free and integrated in the machine bed for protection from damage. plates to the integrated chip conveyor.

An additional benefit is the self-centring saw blade damping. With the smooth-running saw blade, the cut gap is minimised and material loss is reduced. The saw blade drive has an output of 45 kW, which enables cutting speeds of up to 400m/min. High quantities and high machine availability are the result. Depending on the saw blade, the machine can be used to cut all materials ranging from non-alloy construction steels to high- alloy special steels and stainless steel.

The remaining machine components are all easily accessible and easy to maintain. The Hydropol ® was designed by the framag engineering team using a special type of concrete and adapted specifically for high-performance use with optimal attenuation of vibrations occurring during cutting processes. This also has a positive influence on the cutting performance. The billet support from below and the horizontal and vertical tensioning provide three-point tensioning, and increase output for curved billet and extend tool service life. Russian compound manufacturer relies on twin screw extruders from Coperion

machines from Coperion. Polypropyl- ene, polyamide and polyethylene com- pounds are compounded in batch sizes of 5 to 60 tons. Mr Ambrosov said, “Beyond the high reliability that all our systems from Coperion provide, we profit from the option for remote maintenance via the Coperion ServiceBox integrated into our newer extrusion systems, reducing the equipment’s already low maintenance expense even further.” With this online monitoring tool Coperion’s service team has access via secure Internet connection to the operator’s equipment network so that malfunctions can be analysed, evaluated, and usually remedied quickly.

AT R&P Polyplastic, a manufacturer of compound materials with headquarters in Moscow and with three other locations across Russia, twin screw extruders from Coperion have proven their reliability for over 20 years. At the Togliatti and Engels locations, the company produces 80,000 tons of compounds on six different large ZSK and STS series systems. Three more ZSK extruders are in use at the Moscow R&D and pilot production centre. R&P Polyplastic cites Coperion technology’s longevity and low main- tenance expense as decisive reasons to keep choosing the same extruder manufacturer. Evgeniy Ambrosov, technical director at R&P Polyplastic, commented, “Since its purchase in 1997, we have profited from the quality and performance of our first ZSK. This twin screw extruder, with a 70mm screw diameter, is still in operation. Today, we primarily produce filled PA6 formulations with throughputs

of up to 80 tons per month, at batch sizes between 5 and 10 tons.” The STS 75 twin screw extruders with 75mm screw diameters that oper- ate at R&P Polyplastic’s Togliatti site are among the latest generation of Coperion equipment at R&P Polyplastic’s site in Togliatti, Russia
