Kocks successfully commissions new roll technology FRIEDRICH Kocks GmbH, a manufacturer of rolling mill machinery, has celebrated a number of commissions for its brand-new combined line including Kocks 3-roll technology. Iron and steel producer Guangdong Shaoguan Iron and Steel Co, granted the Final Acceptance Certificate to Kocks only four weeks after the first bar was rolled, for the successful commissioning of the 3-roll Reducing & Sizing Block (RSB ® ) 300++/4 in 5.0 design. The RSB ® 300++/4 is the heart of the brand-new combined wire rod and BIC line in Shaoguan and operates as finishing unit for the production of BIC within a dimensional range from Ø15 to Ø50mm. It also supplies as pre-finisher all feeders for the wire rod line. Another RSB ® in 5.0 design is currently being developed at Shaoguan I&S in a different rolling mill and will be commissioned soon. Following that, Chinese iron and steel producer Jiangsu Yonggang Group Co commissioned its small SBQ mill line incorporating an RSB 370++/4 in 5.0 design from Friedrich Kocks GmbH & Co KG, Germany achieving the 100 th Kocks block reference. The Kocks 3-roll RSB 5.0 is the core equipment in the modernised 700.000 t/a SBQ Mill, which is finishing straight bars for machinery manufacturing, automotive, shipbuilding and wind power within a dimension range of Ø16 to 100mm at a maximum speed of 18m/s. Sidenor Aceros Especiales SL also commissioned its RSB ® 435++/5 in 5.0. which is one of the highlights of the modernisation project at Basauri Works executed by Saralle Group, Spain. The five stand RSB 435++ is based on the newest 5.0 generation and contains all of most modern features available. It covers SIDENOR’s size range of rounds from 20mm up to 120mm. The remote control ensures fast size changes and provides a great flexibility. The Size Control System works in a closed loop with the new light section profile gauge, the 4D EAGLE ® , to ensure closest and constant tolerances. Finally, the Chinese company Shijiazhuang Iron & Steel Co Ltd has successfully commissioned its brand new 900,000t/a medium bar mill incorporating an RSB ® 500++/4. Included in the scope is the Size Control System, which allows real time adjustments of the operating parameters of the rolling block, as well as a remote control, which ensures fast size changes and provides great flexibility.
