Success for Pipeline Coating Vienna 2020 PIPELINE Coating Vienna 2020, organised by AMI, was held in February 2020 at the Austria Trend Savoyen Hotel in Vienna Austria and for the first time, partnered with YPP EU and presented the first ever Young Pipeline Professional Award. field and laboratory assessments of UV degradation and system 1A and 2B FBE coated pipes.
On Day two, a new generation coatings and technologies we explored and speakers included Sherwin- Williams, Eckart Suisse, Seal for Life Industries, Pipeline Technique and the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology. The conference sessions also saw the new addition of an Operator and Contractor Clinic where operators included Saudi Aramco, ADNOC and Total. The event attracted operators and asset owners (Saudi Aramco, ADNOC, Total, TC Energy, ENI, Equinor and Qatar Petroleum), contractors and lay engineers, raw material suppliers, pipe coaters, specifiers, machinery suppliers, researchers and testing and certification organisations.
The Pipeline Coating conference, which was focused on polymeric coatings and their protection for offshore and onshore steel pipelines for the energy industries, including oil, gas and water, provided delegates with the chance to participate in two days of technical and commercial conference presentations. The conference, which was supported by Shawcor, who returned as the headline sponsor, Sherwin-Williams, 3M, Borealis, Jotun, Tenaris, Akzo Nobel and Charter Coating, opened looking at future prosperity including case examples of Indian pipeline construction from Borouge. Following that Jabitherm, Shawcor, Tenaris, AkzoNobel and 3M discussed
challenging pipe environments which pose a continual challenge to the industry and explored their latest developments for pre-insulated pipes, wet insulation, CUI and internal flow efficiency coatings. The conference session for day one closed with case examples of how coatings fail when stockpiled. TCEnergy and Charter Coatings provided details on a study they undertook exploring
