and improve safety and environmental impact; reduce waste, energy and water consumption. This will ensure process and chemical compatibility from upstream metalworking fluids to downstream coatings systems. Andy Barker, global tube & pipe director and business development EMEA at Quaker Houghton, said: “Tube and pipe companies face challenges today as never before. From the increasing

QUAKER Houghton, a global leader in industrial process fluids, recently showcased its fluid intelligence solutions and “front-to-back” approach to the offering of process fluids, corrosion preventives and coatings at Tube 2022 in Düsseldorf, Germany. The booth also featured the surface finishing products and expertise of subsidiary company SIFCO ASC. Quaker Houghton provides a broad range of fluid services and solutions that improve manufacturing processes for the tube and pipe industry. Its global teams of scientists, engineers and technical service professionals work with customers to develop fluid and equipment solutions to increase profitability, improve product quality and reduce risk and waste. During the Tube 2022 Trade fair, Quaker Houghton experts were on hand to explain how they work closely with businesses manufacturing challenges for seamless and welded operations. Quaker Houghton’s “front-to-back” approach includes not only a range of process fluids for the front end of pipe manufacturing, but also corrosion preventives and protective coatings to finish at the back end, coupled with the expertise to provide customised solutions. This unique approach means that businesses will be able to maximise their productivity, tool life and efficiency, as well as reduce fluid usage and applied coating costs. They will also be able to achieve high surface finish quality

for the first time in almost two years. We hope our products will benefit people within the tube and pipe industry.” Also appearing at Tube 2022 was SIFCOApplied Surface Concepts (ASC) a company of Quaker Houghton, which is recognised as a global leader in selective plating. SIFCO ASC has been serving the oil & gas industry for 50 years and is well known for its selective plating technology. As an approved vendor for Tenaris and VAM, the leading licensors for oil field thread design, SIFCO ASC is qualified to perform and train operators worldwide to selectively plate copper onto premium threaded connections, making its work within the tube and pipe industry highly beneficial.

laser gauge head can be installed at the end of the line where the tube or pipe is already crystallised. The diameter values of the cold measurement provide information about the shrinkage behaviour of the tube respective pipe and an additional ovality measurement is realised. The tube or pipe surface is inspected for defects and protruding defects are reliably detected. This final quality control leads to the avoidance of complaints by the end customer. The combination with “Within the tube and pipe business unit we have a passion for identifying how our products and solutions can best help our customers improve their process and product quality. Our highly experienced engineers work closely with businesses to solve complex manufacturing challenges for seamless and welded operations, and we regularly assist customers with not only their current application needs, but we also help identify opportunities for improvement within their operations.” Mr Barker added: “With the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic almost behind us, this was a great opportunity for our team to meet with customers face to face demands for improved quality, safety and better corrosion protection, to boosting product aesthetics, tube and pipe producers must operate more efficiently than ever.

Detection of defects on cooled tube or pipe SIKORA has announced a new tool for the comparison of product parameters at the end of the extrusion line.

anEcocontrol 600 processor system (with 8.4" touch screen) enables themeasuring values to be logged in detail at the end of the line. The installation of a Laser gauge head is thus an attractive option for tube and pipe manufacturers for a final quality control at the end of the line. Depending on customer requirements, Sikora offers flexible solutions from 2 to 12 measuring axes.

Measuring tube and pipe dimensions after the vacuum tank has long been an integral part of comprehensive inline process control. The Sikora diameter gauge heads of the Laser Series 2000 and 6000 are versatile applicable in the line. In addition to the common wall thickness measurement after the vacuum tank, for example by Sikora’s X-Ray 6000 PRO X-ray device, another
