Celebrating 70 years of innovation in welding technology and software

inverter technology. Since then, Kemppi has continued to introduce innovations, including the first digital welding power source in 1993, and the first universal welding management software in 2014. In addition to manual arc welding equipment and welding management software, Kemppi provides welding safety gear and comprehensive automated welding solutions to meet growing needs around the world. The company operates globally, with subsidiaries in 17 countries and a partner network covering more than 60 countries. It remains a privately owned family company, led by Martti Kemppi’s grandchildren. Company founder Martti Kemppi had an entrepreneurial attitude

FINNISH welding equipment manufac- turer and software developer Kemppi is celebrating its 70 th anniversary this year. The company’s innovations have helped it grow from a small family business into a global welding technology firm. This year also marks 100 years since the birth of the company’s late founder, Martti Kemppi, who established the business with his brothers in 1949. His hard work and courage to experiment led the company to revolutionise arc welding equipment in 1977 with the world’s first welding power source to use

Each generation has had its own role: the first grew the company and created a strong foundation; the second expanded Kemppi abroad; and the third generation is now building the company into a global corporation. Kemppi’s international growth has recently continued with the establishment of a new welding torch factory in Wuxi, China, and through the acquisition of Italian welding torch manufacturer Trafimet Group SpA. The 70 th anniversary will be marked at customer events organised by the company and its subsidiaries around the world during the remainder of the year.

and economic rolling performance for the user. The copper-alloy strip produced by Ningbo Powerway Alloy Material Co will be mainly used for aerospace, high- speed trains, solar energy, telecommu- nications and the electronics industry. Plant start-up is expected by the last quarter of 2020.

The core equipment, based on Danieli Fröhling technology, will be manufactured in Danieli workshops in Meinerzhagen, Germany. The twin-housing type mills will be equipped with the patented intermediate-roll double bending system for improved strip flatness and direct hydraulic roll-gap control for high-precision thickness performance. The mills will be capable of using a large range of work-roll diameters, from 37 to 80mm, in order to achieve efficient

NINGBO Powerway Alloy Material Co, China, has chosen Danieli Fröhling foil- rolling technology for its third-phase expansion project. To be installed in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, eastern China, the new 20- high cold finishing mills will roll a wide product mix of copper alloys, from soft pure copper to hard phosphor bronze. Strip dimensions will range from an entry thickness of 1.2mm down to a minimum finish thickness of 0.03mm, at a maximum strip width of 650mm.
