Inductotherm enjoys successful Tube 2018 INDUCTOTHERM Heating & Welding had a successful week at Tube/wire 2018 in Düsseldorf, Germany, with an increase in sales leads and some excellent networking opportunities. The company talked face to face with clients, old and new, offering hospitality and introducing them to the new virtual reality suite. the International Wire & Machinery Association (IWMA) CabWire Industry Forum, also in Düsseldorf, at the end of last year. “I was asked to participate to give a talk based on the ‘fundamentals of the wire market sector’,” said Mr Clowes. “Amongst the topics covered by other speakers were subjects such as wire drawing, cable design and so on, whilst I, of course, presented the fundamentals of induction heating. Having stands in both the Tube and the wire sections enabled the company to display its experience and product knowledge across both disciplines, demonstrating why it maintains its position as an induction supplier. “We have had a great show and signed some significant deals,” commented Wayne Hine, Inductotherm Heating & Welding sales director. “The market seems very buoyant presently, which is splendid news for the industry at large. New beam welding service offered BARNSHAWS Section Benders is now offering beam welding services. The introduction of new equipment is part of the company’s strategy to provide customisable and adaptable construction components with short lead times. It is possible to produce sections up to 19m long. The T and I welding machine also enables the manufacture of fabricated and tapered tees. In addition, components can be offered with a single or multi-run fillet, depending on the intended use of the structure. The new equipment allows

productivity, and ensuring more consistent and accurate weld quality and more predictable welding production rates. The additional utility will broaden the company’s competencies, expanding from the traditional metal bending services such as beam bending, tube rolling and press braking. Greg North, commercial director at Barnshaws, commented, “This new T and I weldingmachinegives us increased capability to support requirements from customers in demanding industries. The manufacturing capacity at Barnshaws’ dedicated facility has been enhanced with the arrival of a new semi-automated submerged arc T and I welding machine to further support customers in the oil and gas, structural, general engineering and machinery industries. The new welding machine, combined with existing plate cutting facilities, can manufacture custom-sized T and I beams from plate steel. The beams can measure up to 1m in depth and 0.5m in width, and can have a maximum linear density of 600 kg/m.

Barnshaws to offer CE-marked welded products. This is in addition to the existing certification for structural steel components for which the company has the highest accreditation of execution class 4. The new service will complement Barnshaws’ Porthole Beams™ manufacturing portfolio, which offers profiled plates, beam fabrication, portholing and cambering. Mechanised welding will allow Barnshaws to increase and improve its welding capability, by increasing
