Condition monitoring kit PARKER Kittiwake, a manufacturer of condition monitoring and fluid analysis technology, has launched the Condition Monitoring Starter Kit, which combines the Parker Kittiwake DigiCell combined kit, the Holroyd MHC-Bearing Checker, and a PC tablet with a pre-loaded condition monitoring routine and log book to help guide the user in using the products.

to prioritise everyday maintenance to maximise operational efficiency. The Parker Kittiwake DigiCell is an analysis tool that gives engineers a rapid indication of the levels of water in oil as well as an indication of the lubricant’s residual base number (BN). It is a popular method for on-board testing, providing fast, accurate results in real time, enabling easy monitoring of vital trends. The Holroyd MHC-Bearing Checker is a hand-held instrument that provides engineers with a quick and easy-to- operate analysis of bearing condition using unique Holroyd acoustic emissions monitoring technology. By monitoring the high frequency acoustic emissions signals naturally generated by deterioration in rotating machinery, the checker is able to identify developing machinery faults and provide engineers with condition-related information.

preventatives FOR the last three years, Metalube has been attempting to change the way people think about tube forming and metal protection. The launch of the company’s tube and pipe range introduced the use of water-based rust preventatives that are compatible with specialist forming coolants (Cool-Tek), giving improvements such as higher levels of cleanliness, lower incidences of roll skid, greater consistency in performance and higher levels of corrosion control. The range is currently being used by companies in India, the Middle East, Poland, Portugal, Spain and the UK, with trials taking place even further afield.

Created with the aim of introducing condition monitoring to those owners and operators less familiar with it, the Condition Monitoring Starter Kit combines tools that protect vulnerable equipment and prevent failure. It utilises modern condition monitoring technology to simplify everyday maintenance observations and provide advance warning of possible maintenance requirements. Using deskilled, intuitive technology, the starter kit empowers crew members with data that enables them to take corrective action and safeguard against potentially catastrophic damage in the worst case, and allows them
