Innovative tube forming technology NAKATAManufacturing Co is a company that specialises in providing pipe manufacturing equipment from the initial design process to the point of start-up. It has extensive technical knowledge and many years of experience in developing tube machinery. Its latest development will be the next generation of pipe making machine – Orbital Die Forming.

ODF makes use of multiple die blocks, which are connected together and move in a circumferential direction along the pipe travelling axis three- dimensionally on an endless track. Thanks to the continuous constraint on the edge of the strip by the ODF die blocks, both heavy gauge and extra- thin pipes can be formed without any slippage between die surface and forming materials. With a compact configuration of mill line there is no need to change any forming die before fin-pass at the maximum OD range 3:1. With less forming strain during the process than roll forming – and higher productivity – ODF is the next generation of pipe mill, breaking the limits of previous roll forming methods. With continual research on roll common-use technology, Nakata Manufacturing Co Ltd has also created another highly flexible forming mill named Rollbox. This is a one-roll-set- for-multiple-shaping-pipe-size mill, used to reshape round pipe to square/ rectangular pipe.

Rollbox consists of multiple horizontal and vertical alternatively arranged two- roll forming stands. Each of the stands is equipped with a pair of special profile designed rolls. By applying less strain on the corner portion, approximately two per cent less narrow a width strip will be required for the same shapes and sizes compared to the ordinary

ITALIAN distributor USM has introduced a new range of products to cover all phases of the production of welded steel tubes. Optimising both impeder and inductor sizes, the company is promising guaranteed results, fewer line stops, less tube scrap, less power consumption and a higher welding speed. The products have been developed by USM with a
