strips. The company offers a specific solution called the Scarfing Monitoring System, designed to inspect the inner and outer profiles of ERW pipe welds. This equipment is placed immediately after the welding process.
SOFRATEST, a France-based company and part of the Controle Mesure Systemes group, designs and manu- factures a wide range of ultrasonic equipment dedicated to the inspection of ERW and SAW welded tubes and
Before inspection, the weld must be cooled with a cooling liquid that also serves as a couplant agent. A security sensor can be added to the system as an option ensuring greater safety and serenity before the use of the IOP system. It will detect potential open welds to ensure the execution of the Scarfing Monitoring System without any damage. Following the security sensor, a probe shoe oscillates around the welding area, inspecting both the external and internal profiles of the weld while simultaneously performing a thickness measurement. This equipment offers high stability, allowing for high-speed inspection under very harsh conditions. Thanks to its easy-to-use IOP software, the successive profile curves along the pipes are displayed in real time. Traceability is ensured by our production software, which creates complete and customisable inspection reports. If irregularities are detected, they will be immediately highlighted and located in the inspection report. The system screen is remote, providing a clear, global view of the inspection and enabling necessary adjustments to be made remotely. The equipment is customisable and can be adapted according to the diameter, thickness and length of the inspected tube. All the Sofratest systems comply with international and European standards, including API 5L 46TH, ISO 10893-8, ISO 10893-9, Shell and Aramco. The CMS and Sofratest teams will be visiting numerous trade fairs around the world this year, showcasing a wide range of NDT products for tube inspection at events including FABTECH, ADIPEC and Tube India.
