Hexagon AB acquires TST Tooling LLC HEXAGON AB, a digital reality solutions company combining sensor, software and autonomous technologies, has announced the acquisition of TST Tooling Software Technology LLC. TST is the US and Canada master distributor of VISI, Hexagon’s dedicated CAD CAM software for the mould and die sector, and the PEPS CAM programming software for laser and wire EDM machines. In addition to PEPS and VISI, TST also develops its own range of applications that work within the VISI interface and offers support, training and consultancy to its customer base across North America. Headquartered in Michigan, US, TST employs a team of 18 who will continue to support Hexagon’s production software portfolio in North America as part of the direct organisation. “TST has an excellent reputation in the mould, die and machining market. VISI and PEPS customers in North America are extremely appreciative of the training and support provided by their team,” said Paul Rogers, president, North, Central and South America for Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division. “I’m excited to bring their skills, expertise and market experience into Hexagon and I’m certain that they will positively impact the experience and value we offer to customers.” The large-scale modernisation through a Chinese EPC contractor comprised additional rolling mill equipment. Despite the Kocks Reducing & Sizing Block, the project included the THE Chinese producer of special bar quality products, Fujian Sangang Minguang Group Co Ltd (Sanming) has successfully modernised its bar mill line and rolled the first bar on their new Kocks 3-roll Reducing- & Sizing Block. The RSB ® 370++/4 5.0 design will further improve the quality of Sanmings’ SBQ products. The government-owned enterprise was founded in 1958. Today, it is an important steel producer in the Fujian province on the south-eastern coast of China. Around 11 million tons of steel roll off the mill every year. Within a major modernisation project the decision was made to invest into an upgrade of the existing mill, including the integration of a Kocks RSB ® . The proven Kocks 3-roll technology enables Sanming to meet the highest standards in terms of quality. The commissioned RSB ® 370++/4 is located as finishing unit after 21 stands in H/V rolling mill arrangement and will produce bar in coil within a dimension of Ø16 to 48mm and straight bars within a dimension of Ø20 to 90mm in an 800.000t/a mill line.
