DieTronic develops a complete solution to protect against oxidation of tubes and pipes

DIETRONIC has been developing a complete solution against the well- known problem of oxidation on tubes and pipes for the last 15 years. This is a frequent problem for tube manufacturers, something particularly common during transport and long periods of outdoor stockage with great changes in temperature. In this regard, rust is a problem as it results into a poor product quality that may lead, in worst cases, to have to reject a great amount of production. To avoid this, DieTronic has designed a complete anti-corrosion solution, which comprise cleaning of coil, cleaning of welded tube, anti- corrosive spraying system and saw blade lubrication unit. The first device proposed is the Coil Cleaning system that, placed before the tube forming section, ensures the cleaning of the coil thanks to the use of an upper and a lower roller with rotating brushes. The next essential unit, located after the forming and the welding section, is the Tube Cleaner system, which allows a first deep pre-cleaning, especially important for very dirty tubes, through the use of solvents or water-based products; after that, a pneumatic air blade, placed at the entrance of the anti-rust system, is

usually always provided, as it blows air directly on to the tube, preparing a perfectly clean and dry tube surface, thus optimising the later application of anti-corrosive fluids. After these first three accessories, the real anti-rust spraying machine comes into play: the system was conceived and enhanced over the years to apply the rust preventive oil in an automatic and precise way, thanks to the possibility to set the desired amount of anti- corrosive product in g/m 2 (from 0.5 to 10 g/m 2 ) from the operator touch-screen panel, in an intuitive way.

The Anti-rust is able to spray the right amount of product in a constant and homogenous method, covering the whole tube surface and adjusting the RPO quantity to apply automatically and proportionally to the line speed, detected thanks to the presence of an encoder. As a result, the system consistently decreases the consumption of anti- corrosive fluids, which can be reduced up to the 80 per cent.

Servo double end finisher for pipe couplings A MECHANICAL pipe coupling manufac- turer has chosen Haven Manufacturing, a turnkey supplier to the tube process- ing industry, to design and build a double end finishing machine for pre-formed stainless steel couplings. several modifications to its Model #922 short length double end finisher. The tube is pre-formed on both ends, which causes excess material to elongate randomly from the ends. The challenge was three-fold; accurately locate the part in relation to the formed sections; be able to machine varying amounts of material from each end; and control the chip load. Part location was solved by designing clamp jaws that are dedicated to each tube configuration. They “lock” in the tube, so that the critical dimension from the profile to the end of the tube is consistently maintained.
