Surface control systems for welded tube ISEND, a designer and manufacturer of quality control solutions based on non-destructive testingmethods, has been chosen to provide three new projects for the development of surface quality control systems for welded tube with three of the main producers of welded pipe in Mexico.

All Three will be up and running by the end of 2020, each controlling and certifying the superficial quality of 25,000 TM/year of welded tube for the automotive industry. Manufacturers that have purchased these systems will have a system for monitoring the quality of the surface of the welded tube, which will make it possible to differentiate the origin and type of defect located. In addition, it will be able to carry out corrective actions to maintain the desired quality standards. According to ISEND, its quality control systems can reduce up to 80 per cent of the rejected material, thanks to the digital analysis of the signal supported by Artificial Intelligence. The company said that there is an increasing demand for this type of equipment, capable of storing inspection data information in addition to automatic tracking information, which proves a clear trend of digitisation of the steel industry towards Industry 4.0.
