Standard band saws and circular blade billet saws for automatic sawing By Willy Goellner, director of R&D, Advanced Machine & Engineering Co
THE AMSAW 180P automatic circular blade carbide billet saw cuts at high speed and uses hard coated, carbide- tipped one-way blades that have a maximum 610mm (24") blade diameter. The saw is cost efficient and has a long tool life. The AMSAW-Wagner automatic band saw cuts with bi-metal or carbide-tipped bands. This saw cuts more slowly, but it is less expensive than the 180P. An additional benefit of the band saw is the larger capacity of 350mm (14") to allow cutting larger stock manually. The automatic load table is therefore enforced and larger billets of up to Ø350mm (14") and 6m (20 ft) length can be manually loaded directly on to the power roller conveyor to feed the band saw. Depending on the customers’ requirements and budget the automatic saw systems can be expanded with economical standard subassemblies or more sophisticated saw systems. The saw will also cut the required pieces

and automatically transfer the cut pieces to bins. Each automatic saw system consists of a load table that can be loaded with five tons of billets from Ø38mm (1.5") minimum and Ø180mm (7.0") maximum mixed diameter bars. The shorter tables are used for 4m (12ft) long bars, and the longer tables are

wire thickness and the overall shape of the brush are defined by the sizes of the tube, the material of the layers and the cut back machine in use. Lessmann offers brushes up to a diameter of 500mm. The standard filling material is hard-drawn high-tensile wire, and all production steps are controlled by CNC machines.
The external surfaces of steel pipelines are often coated with epoxy resin and several polypropylene or polyethylene layers, which protect against corrosion below ground. Before the tubes are connected by a welding procedure, the coating needs to be removed completely at the tube ends. For treating the layers effectively it is
