Latest research on high-speed ERW pipe mills from FD Machinery
or above. The key is that – compared with ordinary milling saw machines – saw blade life is not reduced and cutting end quality is not decreased due to line speed increases, making it arguably one of the most advanced milling saws available. It is estimated that this kind of milling will become mainstream for ERW pipe mills in next few years. The parallel connection multiple milling saw is named as it is because there are two sets of milling saw separately installed in parallel. Two sets of saw carriage move independently in the opposite way and alternately cut off steel pipe. In one operation cycle of this cutting saw, two pipes are be cut off. When producing diameter 25x1mmx6m steel pipe the mill speed is up to 200m/min.
changes. Therefore, it is possible to say that mill speed is ultimately decided by saw blade life. Engineers that are engaged in the design of ERW pipe mills have attempted to extend sawing lifespan by using two sets of saw carriage so that two pipes can be cut at one time. The problem is with the long travel of saw carriage and pipes that are hanging out in long status. In addition there are problems with the bending of the pipe and pipe-end control, which are difficult to resolve, which is why this kind of cutting saw is so rare. After years of development FD Machinery has now successfully developed a parallel connection multiple milling saw, which has already been applied to two working pipe mills. The parallel connection multiple milling saws help to improve the speed of ERW pipe mills. In theory it can be up to 250m/min
MANY years ago FD Machinery, based in China, received a request from a customer that wanted to change the saw carriage travel on its machine to be up to 6m long. This is the same as the cut length, and the customer wanted this adaptation because he believed that it would extend blade life. After a lengthy but patient explanation to FD Machinery he eventually gave up this requirement as it was not possible at the time. However, FD Machinery was deter- mined to continue to seek a solution in order to satisfy the customer. At the time it seemed unlikely that the request made by the customer would increase the length of the life of the blade, but the simple truth is that sawing time is proportional to the life of the saw blade. When the mill speed is raised, sawing time is shorter and the saw blade life expectancy also
