Cutting, sawing & prof i l ing technology
Bewo cutting saws BEWO Cutting Systems BV is a developer and producer of the strong manual circular saw the Bewo CPO as well as high performance automatic tube cutting lines.
Bewo has had the Bewo CPO in production since the 1950s. Since then the sawing machine has been developed and improved, and more than 40,000 Bewo CPOs have been sold worldwide. Mr Brink added: “With our collaboration with our partners all over the world we
Gerry Brink, sales representative at Bewo, said: “We regularly receive requests for spare parts for 30-year- old Bewo CPOs. The parts that have to be replaced with the old machines are mostly guards or handles. These parts are relatively small, inexpensive, easy to replace and always available from our stock.” A lifetime of a Bewo CPO of more than 20 years is common because of the high quality parts including, for example, a bronze worm wheel and iron castings so wear and tear is reduced to a minimum.

Torque limiter with integrated chain wheel THE more that factory facilities become automated, the more safely problems, machinery breakdowns or damage to products can potentially occur. To protect transported products in packaging machines, safety elements such as switching or slipping couplings are inserted in the drive chain. Thereby advantages and disadvantages of both different types of couplings have to be considered because they are crucial for an effective protection of the facility. The ENEMAC torque limiter type ECH for chain wheel drives combines advantages of the synchronous coupling with the short configuration of a slipping coupling. The drive section in the form of a chain wheel is a functional device of the coupling itself. High repeatability of the default disengagement torque and durable function is ensured by form closure of the coupling via balls, which are pressed into cages by disc springs.
Using a groove nut the coupling is adjusted on the right disengagement torque. In case of an overload the torque limiter disengages and re-engages after one turn. Eleven design sizes make a total torque range of 2Nm to 900Nm overall.

Slipping clutches are the simplest overload systems. The problem with those in many applications is that the disengagement torque cannot be adjusted accurately. In addition the frictional resistance of the coating could be strongly affected by dampness and lubricants. Furthermore the abrasion of friction pads due to heat has to be considered. The main advantage of the friction clutch is a very short configuration. The advantages of synchronous cou- plings are the quite accurate possibility of adjusting the disengagement torque, the high repeatability and the very small torque in the moments between disengaging and re-engaging. In case of an overload, a certain separation of masses in milliseconds is guaranteed.
