Tube Russia 2008 reflects country’s robust economy

Tube Russia 2008, held from 27-30 May 2008, gave further evidence that the Russian economy and industry is currently booming. Held alongside Metallurgy- Litmash, Aluminium/Non-Ferrous, Metalloobrabotka and Schweißen & Schneiden, Tube Russia 2008 again took place at Moscow’s Krasnaya Presnya ZAO Expocentr fairgrounds. The event attracted around 8,800 visitors from all corners of the Russian Federation and its neighbouring countries, together with an enlarged contingent of international attendees. Overall, around ten per cent more visitors attended than at the previous comparable event in 2006. Spread across a net exhibition area of roughly 4,650m 2 , 316 exhibitors from 22 countries showcased their products and

services at the event. The majority of exhibitors (165) came from outside Russia and the remaining 151 from the host nation. Officially backed joint presentations were put together by Germany, Italy, Austria and China The event is organized by Messe Düsseldorf, its subsidiary Messe Düsseldorf Moscow, and Russian partner Metal Expo. The show is sponsored by the International Tube Association (ITA), and Frankfurt- based Verband Deutscher Maschinen und Anlagenbau (German Engineering Federation – VDMA). and tube industries. Due to high prices on the global markets, Russia’s metallurgy industry is in a strong financial position. According to the German Office for Foreign Trade (bfai), the country’s seven biggest steel companies alone racked up combined sales of US$25 billion in 2006, producing US$8.5 billion in profits. The concurrent staging of two thematically related fairs was a source of further synergies for exhibitors and visitors at Tube Russia. Messe Essen was responsible for Schweißen & Schneiden Russia 2008, which featured 67 exhibitors from ten countries and their plant, materials, processes and services from the world of welding technology. Metalloobrabotka – the Russian trade fair for metalworking equipment and tools – also took place from 26-31 May.
