The new generation of stands maintains the numerous advantages that the Canticut cantilevered design has over other methods of ID bead removal. The most important advantage is a close coupling between the scarfing location and anchor point giving superior rigidity to the cutting tool. This bar strength also means that no internal wheels are needed and cutting depth adjustments can be made while the mill is running for most applications. The cantilevered design also means that a wide range of product sizes can be run using the same bar. These new developments are also of interest to facilities that have Canticut units in service. A number of long-term equipment users have placed orders recently for new units seeing the innovations as big pluses to the proven quality and reliability they have experienced for decades.
