POINTING of leading tube ends is an important step to ensure proper production steps are completed beginning with cold drawing. The state-of-the-art Bültmann tube pointing machines cover all the different requirements for preparing tube ends of different shapes and materials. The established technology is based on a Bültmann tube pointing machine, type HAM/PH, which has been specifically developed to handle the requirements associated with the pointing of tubes. For example, the combination of both proven pointing methods – folding tag forming and push-pointing – integrated in one machine makes is possible to point tubes with a small wall thickness as well as tubes with a larger thickness (ratio >1:10) using the same working station. By requiring minimum space, the Bültmann pointers are also suited to retrofitting into existing lines. In addition, the simple technical concept offers cost benefits – only one machine needs to be purchased instead of two for this application. Several shapes of tube end points can be executed by different pointing principles for best clamping performance by clamping devices of the drawing carriages.
