Tailored eddy current and ultrasonic tube inspection

into production lines and identifies discontinuities or open welds. • Combination of coil support and eddy current encircling coil: this setup detects surface and subsurface, short and transverse defects on non magnetic products. Various encircling coils with custom profiles are available to perfectly match the customer’s product range (diameters from 0.1mm to 230mm (0.004" to 9").

• Sectorial magnetising unit: a specialised eddy current application for inspecting welds on ERW tubes, this unit can examine welding zones on tubes with diameters from 5mm to 300mm (0.187" to 12") at unlimited speeds. It integrates easily

CONTROLE Mesure Systemes (CMS) has been developing tailored inspection solutions since 1985 that are designed to meet specific customer needs and production constraints. To address these problems, it has developed and produced innovative and turnkey inspection solutions utilising eddy current and ultrasonic technologies. As a French manufacturer with a global export reach, CMS has established an international reputation and presence in the non-destructive testing (NDT) market. For each project, CMS develops a unique NDT application to address customer needs regarding quality, performance and reliability. Both the mechanical and electronic components of these systems are developed in house by engineers skilled in the latest technologies. CMS’s eddy current and ultrasonic solutions for tubes inspection include: • Eddy current rotating head RotoETscan: detects surface longitudinal defects at high speed on circular products, with versions available for diameters ranging from 0.8mm to 220mm (0.031" to 8.7"). • Ultrasonic rotating head RotoUTscan: designed for high-speed inspection of cylindrical products, this head detects internal and external defects of any orientation and provides precise dimensional measurements. Versions are available for diameters from 4mm to 250mm (0.156" to 10"). • Eddy current magnetising unit: conducts inspections through magnetic saturation and encircling coils, detecting short and transverse flaws on ferromagnetic products. Versions are available for diameters from 0.2mm to 230mm (0.008" to 9").
