Mazak unveils Mazatrol DX at EMO YAMAZAKI Mazak revealed new technology at EMO 2023, which provides customers with tools that maximise productivity, helping with all aspects of the manufacturing process, including quoting, intuitive automation planning and machine setup guide. Mazatrol DX, which extends the functionality of Mazak’s widely popular PC-based SmoothCAM Ai software, is the latest innovation from the manufacturer to align its machine tool portfolio with advanced technologies for a rapidly evolving digitalised world. Mazatrol DX will provide customers with valuable new capability to further optimise production. Extending the functionality of its well-known Mazatrol technology to provide rapid and automatic quotations, automated part programming, virtual machine simulation and machine process analysis and optimisation. The software, which includes the same functions as a CNC, enables Mazak customers to securely create Mazatrol programs, either on their office computers or from their homes. Fundamentally, the system creates an entirely new production method that compliments engineers’ intuition to quickly create quotes, part programmes and simulations – calculating manufacturing costs, times and tools automatically from a 3D model. In response to the market demand, characterised by CNC operator shortages, a powerful new function of Mazatrol DX provides new operators with an intuitive setup guide that assists them though setups on the machine, Procedures are developed to ensure tooling, fixturing and automation are setup on the machine significantly reducing setup times by building the setup instructions into the process. Applying AI functions, Mazatrol DX can integrate with the SMOOTH Tool Management system to enable users to program parts using the tools available in the existing factory tool database. Furthermore, Mazatrol DX can process solid models to interactively program parts, optimise machining cycles and create intuitive machine set-up sequences. Mazatrol DX has launched a 120-day free trial offer, available to all Mazak customers registered to its free Mazak iConnect portal. The sophistication of Mazatrol DX also enables it to work in harmony with Mazak’s latest automation solution, the Ez Loader 30. Making its World exhibition premiere at EMO 2023, the Ez Loader 30 is an integrated collaborative robot solution that quickly deploys automation on Mazak machine tools. The Ez Loader 30 can realise planned, unmanned operations even on small batches of parts without requiring specialist robot programming skills. Through the Ez Loader Application, that runs on the NC control, operators can schedule production, change parts, fixture information and robot paths. Setup logic is also transferred to the control for ease of operator interaction and to reduce the skills needed for setting up robot paths, schedules, tooling and fixtures. The Ez Loader 30, as configured at EMO 2023, supports workpieces up to 18kg and 50 to 200mm in diameter.
