Saw blades: traditional flood coolant methods vs DieTronic Srl MQL technique

zone, with little or no excess fluid to clean up or dispose of. The advantage of this technology is that it provides an efficient lubrication and improves the tool cutting performance. It also strongly reduces the fluid consumption, thus saving money and eliminating the environmental contamination, the need for disposal and the negative aspects of using coolants. In particular it is possible to eliminate the water usage on the protected tubes and in the working environment. Furthermore, the material friction is minimised, while the saw blades life is extended and also the performance of rust preventive fluids (usually applied before the cutting section and whose application can be undermined by the use of solvents) is enhanced. The MQL technique employed in combination with the Antirust Spraying Machine, for the controlled application of rust preventive fluids (RPO) on the surface of tubes and profiles, ensures a significant reduction in the costs and offers a complete protection of the end product against corrosion.

A FREQUENT problem in saw blade operations is the friction generated between the cutting tool and the material, with the consequent risk of heating and wear of the tool itself. To contrast these undesirable effects, many users opt for traditional flood cooling methods. However, at the same time, these solutions also present several unwanted disadvantages: they are expensive; they create a messy and dirty working environment; and they can be dangerous for the health and safety of the operators. Users of flood coolant methods should not only consider the coolant costs, but also the issues related to it and the extra equipment needed. For example, for the mixing, recirculation of the product, treatment and disposal. In addition, such fluids have a high impact on environmental contamination as they create a dirty and messy working environment. This leads to another crucial point: if we think of potentially slippery floors and the coolant vapours that the operators working around the line inhale, it is quite clear that this might seriously affect their health and safety. In this regard the DieTronic Minimum

Quantity Lubrication (MQL) technique is an efficient alternative to traditional flood coolant methods. This solution comprises a cooling system to refrigerate the saw blade by cool lube (until -25°C) and a nozzle to spray lubricant (not coolant) in minimum quantities and directly into the cutting DieTronic’s MQL technique is an alternative to traditional flood coolant methods

Much more than non-destructive testing – helping to minimise defects and downtime

ISend participates in research and development projects at international level so that its solutions are adapted to the needs of its customers. Currently the company is working on the 5th generation of EDDYeyes solution, including new features to make it stronger, more reliable, and easy to maintain. It is doing this to ensure an active contribution to economic and environmental sustainability, as the knowledge generated allows the company to minimise defects, downtime, accidents and customer returns.

from the whole production process that properly treated, generate information and knowledge for the operation of more sustainable industries in terms of profitability and lower carbon footprint. ISEND has been applying all these techniques in all its NDT solutions, which has helped many companies to improve their sustainability, viability and ecology. The company designs, manufactures and installs both hot and cold NDT equipment inline, incorporating state-of-the-art technology such as machine learning and vibration analysis for predictive maintenance. Combining different technologies such as eddy current and machine vision

NON-DESTRUCTIVE testing in the iron and steel industry has been used for a long time to ensure product quality. In many cases using equipment that has been operating for decades, which means robustness and reliability. But the speed of the transformations that the industry is undergoing, with the application of concepts such as machine learning (artificial intelligence), industry 4.0 and use of the cloud and blockchain technologies, have made them an essential element for the improvement of processes and products. Their location, at the end of the manufacturing lines, allows them to accumulate huge amounts of information (big data) coming
