They can operate from welding speeds of 20m/min up to 120m/min depending on the version. The OD weld seam often needs to be removed from welded tubes for meeting different standards. Many tube mills wind up the removed OD weld seam, which creates a safety hazard for the mill staff. A better process is to cut the swarf, immediately after being generated, into small chips. These need less space than wound up chips, and can be transported automatically into the scrap metal container.
