Clamshell for pipe cold cutting A portable clamshell pipe cold cutting machine for steel pipe cutting has been developed by DWT in cooperation with the European offshore industry.
weld preparation; inside-turning of pipe ends; and flange facing for repair of flanges on-site. The application range of themachines is from 76mm to 1,219mm OD and for wall thickness up to 100mm. The split construction type portable steel pipe cutter is easy to mount on assembled pipelines. Special applications like remote control are available for limited access in pipeline welding. The portable pipe cold cutting machine has a high metal removal rate, a large adjustment range, is easy to handle and has been constructed in a rugged and compact way.
A high metal removal rate, a large adjustment range and an easy setup are available with these clamshells. The portable pipe cutter avoids any heat-affected zone. Specially designed for heavy wall steel pipes with high wall- thickness in heavy-duty applications, their high working speed and quick readiness for use allow economic manufacture. The portable pipe cutting machines for the machining of pipes on-site are versatile in application and can perform many operations. They are also designed for new steel pipe grades like P91.

SELMERS BV, a supplier of multi- layer pipe coating plants, has recently completed the renewal of its peeling resistance tester. A peeling resistance tester (PRT) is used in testing the adhesion strength of a three-layer PE/PP coating system. The PRT is considered a logical device inside Selmers’ quality control

90° while having a 10 m/min velocity. The control unit consists of a logical- to-use touch panel, which is meant for collecting and presenting data. From the control unit, data can be transferred to a secondary device via LAN or USB connection. Although the PRT has a 220- 240 VAC, 50–60 Hz main connection, the system can come optionally with a rechargeable battery pack. The peeling resistance tester – type 2,500 Newton – can be ordered with optional wireless-LAN for easier data collection on, for example, a laptop. A printing device can also be ordered which prints the test results directly.
friendly peeling device, capable of handling higher peel strength forces than ever before, eg handling forces up to 2,500 Newton, up from 1,500 Newton in previous years. At the same time Selmers has managed to reduce the weight of the peeling device by almost 40 per cent. The peeling device is in this way much easier to handle on the pipe by the quality engineer executing the test. The PRT is a peeling device with a control unit, which comes in a sturdy road case. The peeling device is placed on the pipe for peeling the three-layer coating from the pipe. When peeling a strip of width 20-50mm off the coated pipe, it may remain within the 120- 130mm cutback pipe end. The peeling angle is maintained at a controlled
