Engineering company transfluid has been developing tube bending machines for 30 years to produce these results, and the solutions for these demanding specifications are increasingly advanced, from simple bending machines that bend directly on the equipment to CNC- controlled bending machines. Cutting ring pre-assembly machines are available for connections in hydraulics and also forming machines, to add DKOL and other soft sealing connections and hose fittings directly on the tube, as well as forming a single-piece tube fitting on the tube, with no chips. transfluid has developed the latest generation of its classic mobile bending machine t bend MB 642 for bending directly on-site. With this machine it is possible to bend tube up to 6m long; the floor space needed by the machine does not change, because the rotating head can turn, reducing the working space needed to a minimum. With the compression bending technique,

Bending machines with mandrels and fully hydraulic control can be equipped with units to assemble cutting rings, for flaring, de-burring, cutting and bevelling
assembly devices for the most common connection systems (flange and with cutting ring for thread cutting), as well as metal circular saws. For the manufacturing of tube geometries for individual pieces or small series with rotary draw bending, transfluid has developed compact bending machines with mandrels. They are flexible and can achieve a tight bending radius, even with tubes with thin walls, when bending with a mandrel. The t bend DB 2076K machine can work with tubes with a diameter of 20 to 76mm. It is possible to transfer data to the machine with a USB connection; the control system can store whole bending programs and the machine comes with an eight-angle pre-selection as standard. Optional equipment such as saws, burr- ing devices and cutting ring for threads and flanges allow the manufacture of complete tubing systems. As well as tubing and connections for hydraulic applications, there is often a need to process CAD data from different programs or to manufacture complex tubing systems. transfluid makes this possible with CNC machines that are simple to use and completely automated. The tools can be exchanged quickly, making their use very flexible. They are suitable for small produc- tion runs and for applications with high geometry diversity. The bending ma-
chines work independent of the user and to the specifications of the indi- vidual project, thanks to the interfaces available to connect them with CAD and measuring machines. The two versions of transfluid’s own t project software provide controlled tube manufacturing and connect the machines to CAD and measuring systems, manufacturing execution systems or ERP systems. It is possible to test bending sequences in advance, to make sure that there are no collisions. Various additional modules contain the information for whole sequences, to have better control over the process and to manage the forming process data. The software also helps at the cutting stage, reducing any waste to a minimum. transfluid also offers separate assembly machines for cutting ring or flange connections. They operate in an axial or rolling manner to deliver safe connections. been with Roll-Kraft for 18 years and has held various engineering positions within the company, including engineering man- ager of tube and pipe and roll form tool- ing. This newly created position will involve the handling of all corrective and preventive actions (CPAs), as well as using the ‘five why method’ for evaluating root causes. Mr Rau will be responsible for in-depth audits throughout the company and enlisting audit teams at Roll-Kraft’s various locations. A major emphasis will be placed on improving existing processes, or standardising new processes, reducing waste and developing training documentation for new employees, as well as for daily use. By employing available technological resources, detailed training instructions, complete with photos, will be readily accessible on the company’s intranet for immediate reference. This will ensure that the latest procedures will be used, first and foremost, in performing the manufacturing process. Roll-Kraft said that the addition of this position and the implementation of these procedures will aid in providing quality tooling to the tube and pipe and roll forming industry that meets on-time delivery requirements and first-time performance.

Sikora at METEC 2019 trade show SIKORA manufactures advanced
The technology measures regardless of the surface roughness in typical tube applications. The measuring values are clearly displayed graphically as well as numerically on the display of the processor system Ecocontrol 6000. Furthermore, extensive trend and statistical functions, as well as comprehensive data logging, are available. The Radar Scan 6000 contributes to high product quality, process optimisation and cost saving during tube manufacturing. Another highlight at the Sikora booth will be the Planowave 6000 M, a non-contact measuring system that is used for non-destructive thickness measurement of slabs, strips and plates. The system offers a precise thickness measurement independent of the material, temperature and surface of the product. An external calibration on the material is not needed. The measurement of the product is also based on radar technology. Transceivers above and below the material continuously send and receive frequency modulated millimetre waves. The thickness – typically centreline thickness – of the product is precisely determined from the runtime difference. By using a traversing set of transceivers, the cross-section profile of the product can be optionally determined. The Planowave M is designed for a typical measuring range of up to 500mm. The system is used directly in the production line or at the end of the line for final quality control. This system is also combined with the display and control system Ecocontrol 6000 for the visualisation of the measuring values, the display of trend and statistics and data logging. Sikora will also present the Laser Series 2000 for non-contact and non-destructive measurement of the diameter and the ovality of metal tubes,
measuring technology for the metals, hose and tube, wire and cable, optical fibre and plastics industries. At METEC in Düsseldorf, Germany, from 25 to 29 June, the company will present a broad portfolio of systems for non-destructive quality control and process optimisation of steel tubes, strips and plates at booth 3A58. With the Radar Scan 6000, Sikora presents a system for non-contact in-line measurement of the diameter and ovality of metal tubes and rods. The system is based on progressive, high-resolution radar technology and records measuring values over 360° of the circumference of the product to micron accuracy. The measurement is carried out by radar transceivers simultaneously from several directions and is insensitive to heat, dust and steam. Typical measuring ranges of 300 to 2,500mm are covered. The Radar Scan 6000 requires no coupling media and continuously delivers precise measuring values, which lead to high reliability and availability for the user. Due to the slim design, the system can easily be integrated into the production process for hot as well as cold measurement.
The X-Ray 6000 Pro is used for thickness measurement of light metal alloy tubes
wire rods and bars during production. The measuring method is based on the use of laser light sources and CCD sensors in combination with powerful signal processors. The outer diameter of the metal tube is calculated by means of an intelligent diffraction analysis. Extremely short exposure times ensure high accuracy of the single value at all line speeds. The Laser Series 2000 includes gauge heads for different product diameters from 0.05 to 500mm. They are free of wearing parts and keep their precision during the entire operating time, and no calibration or maintenance work is necessary. The measuring values are clearly displayed on the monitor of a processor system of the Ecocontrol series. Sikora will also present the Laser Series 6000. These devices complement the company’s product portfolio of intelligent diameter gauges with three high-end models. Up to 5,000 measurements per second and axis, all with extremely high single value precision, enable optimum line control and provide reliable statistical data.

Bronx straightening equipment for the ship - building industry in China

Mobile application enhances welding quality control and Industry 4.0 integration
is established with a digital connectivity module that collects welding data and enables wireless data transfer via Bluetooth. The app then uploads the data into the WeldEye cloud service via Wi-Fi or mobile network. The app can also be used only for browsing welding procedure specifications. “The welders can easily access their company’s WPS library with their mobile phones,” said Kemppi product manager Vesa Tiilikka. “They can also receive digital work orders, report work progress, and get feedback on their welds, including heat input values when welding data is collected.” Juhana Enqvist, Kemppi’s CDO, commented, “Paperless production becomes a reality with WeldEye. The new digital work order functionality, WPS accessibility on the go, and WeldEye’s real-time integration APIs to companies’ ERP/MES systems bring Industry 4.0 closer to our customers.” The collection of digital welding data and verification against digitally stored WPSs has many benefits. Real-time quality control improves productivity, as quality deviations can be identified and

Full profile measurement gauge commissioned at GMH GEORGSMARIENHÜTTE (GMH), Germany, has commissioned the Kocks 4D Eagle ® full profile measurement gauge. Its working principle is based on the advanced laser light sectioning method. The 4D Eagle replaced an existing light measurement gauge and is installed at the exit of the existing Kocks RSB ® 370/6. It will cover a production diameter range from 19.5 to 82.3mm, and will increase the reliability and consistency of the hot bar profile measurement under ever-changing production conditions. The 4D Eagle also provides profile data to the RSB size control system for closed-loop process control. A rolling defect detection feature enables automatic recognition of form deviations as well rolling defects such as roll breakage or roller failures.

Lincoln appoints new senior vice president of strategy and business development

He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from St Bonaventure University and a master’s degree in accounting from the State University of New York at Binghamton. He is a certified public accountant. Lincoln Electric designs, develops and manufactures arc welding products, robotic arc welding systems, and plasma and oxy-fuel cutting equipment, and is also involved in the brazing and soldering alloys market. Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, Lincoln has 56 manufacturing lo- cations, including operations and joint ventures in 20 countries, and a world- wide network of distributors and sales of- fices covering more than 160 countries.
LINCOLN Electric Holdings has appointed Geoffrey Allman as senior vice president, strategy and business development. Eddyfi acquires NDT robotics specialist NON-DESTRUCTIVE testing technology specialist Eddyfi Technologies has confirmed the acquisition of Inuktun, a developer and manufacturer of remotely operated crawlers and camera systems. Headquartered in Nanaimo, in the Canadian province British Columbia, Inuktun offers robotic systems that bridge the gap between NDT inspectors and the physical world, helping customers go beyond physical inspection limitations. Inuktun also has locations in Houston, Texas, USA, and partners in Aberdeen, UK, and Perth, Australia.

TMK opens external coating facility in Nor th America

TMK, a producer of tubular products for the oil and gas industry, has opened a new external coating facility at TMK IPSCO’s Wilder facility in North America. The 250,000 tonnes of annual coating capacity for pipes up to 609.6mm (24") in diameter is available in fusion bonded epoxy (FBE), abrasion-resistant overcoat (ARO) and speciality coating. Coating protects line pipe against corrosion, mechanical damage and weathering. The facility is certified to industry standards, including CSA Z245.20 (Canadian national standards – the most rigorous in North America), NACE SP0394 and AWWA C213, as well as end users’ specific standards. The launch will expand IPSCO’s line-up of high value-added products

between 750 and 1,570mm and entry thicknesses ranging between 0.6 and 5mm. The minimal achievable final thickness is 0.23mm. The CCM will be equipped with one pay-off and two reversing reels. Both rolling stands will be realised in four-high design. It will be possible to operate the mill with work roll sets of two different diameters. Excellent strip quality, high productivity and efficient rolling operations are provided by proven SMS group rolling technologies – the CVC ® plus (continuously variable crown) roll shifting technology, which, in combination with work roll bending, ensures a wide flatness setting range. One dry strip system per stand will be provided to
remove surplus emulsion from the strip surface. MARCEGAGLIA Ravenna SpA has contracted SMS group for the complete supply of a two-stand reversing cold mill of CCM ® (compact cold mill) design. Marcegaglia’s headquarters is located in Gazoldo degli Ippoliti, in the Mantua province of North Italy. The new CCM will be implemented at the Ravenna facility where Marcegaglia produces cold rolled carbon steel sheets and strips for a wide range of industrial applications. As a high- performance mill, it is designed to process a comprehensive material mix, including high-carbon and duplex steels, chrome-manganese alloyed steels, and silicon steels. The annual capacity is about 550,000 tons. Depending on the product mix, it rolls strips with widths of

Oil and natural gas pipe demand to grow DEMAND for oil and natural gas pipe is forecast to grow 11 per cent annually to $15.4bn in 2022 – a strong recovery from severe declines seen during the 2012-2017 period, according to ‘Pipe: Products & Markets’, a new study from The Freedonia Group, USA. the 2012-2017 period, weak domestic demand for oil and gas pipe and a surge of steel pipe imports – particularly of OCTG – held prices down. Going forward, producers will likely raise prices for oil and gas pipe due to increased drilling activity and an expected reduction in import competition brought on by the Trump administration’s 25 per cent tariff on steel and recent anti- dumping measures.
Growth will be driven by an expected increase in drilling activity as oil prices continue to recover from 2016 lows. Increased well completion in key fields like the Permian Basin is supporting gains for OCTG, while bottlenecks in such productive areas are encouraging pipeline construction. Growth will also be supported by a modest recovery in pricing. During

Combi-PPT wins FLTA safety award COMBILIFT has won annother industry award after its Combi-PPT model scooped the Safety Category at the FLTA Awards for Excellence 2019.

Atomat celebrates 50 years of excellence FOLLOWING the untimely demise, last April, of company founder Oreste De Sabbata, Atomat decided to postpone the celebration of the 50 th anniversary of its incorporation until December, with an open-day gathering for its employees, their families and a selected group of local authorities. Managing director Fabio Martecchini offered a historical overview of Atomat, from its beginnings to the present, followed by an informal awarding ceremony to senior employees.
The company stated that the perception was that everyone who took part left the venue with a sense of pride for the results and the international stance attained by the company since 1968, along with the strong determination to keep on bringing home accolades in the years to come.
The programme started with a short tour of the industrial premises and a brief illustration of the activities performed in each of the offices and workshops. Afterwards, all guests were treated to a brunch buffet put together by a renowned regional chef.

New EWM administration building opened in
Mündersbach WELDING technology manufacturer EWM AG has opened a new adminis- tration building. An initial 80 employees have moved into the office complex, with EWM investing a total of €4mn in the new 1,800m² location. With around 400 employees in the building in Mündersbach, Germany, the family company is among the leading providers of work in the region. With the new building, EWM is making a long-term commitment to the location where it was founded. The high-tech company is Germany’s largest producer of arc welding technology and is among the global technological leaders in this sector. The new multi-storey building houses a total of 100 office workspaces. EWM has equipped
