Director at Rad-Con RAD-CON, Inc, USA, a specialist in hydrogen bell furnaces for strip and wire coils, has announced that Wynn H Kearns as joined the company as director of marketing and sales.

“We recognise the potential growth in thermal treatment markets in NAFTA, based on historical lows in natural gas energy prices,” said Chris Messina, Rad-Con president. “Wynn’s extensive industrial manufacturing experience, coupled with his market experience, will take our bell anneal product to a new level, along with growing our fuel based nitrogen system.” Prior to joining Rad-Con, Mr Kearns was responsible for NAFTA business development for CMI EFCO in Salem, Ohio. During more than eight years at CMI, he was responsible for multiple projects in Mexico, Canada and USA, along with export markets in Brazil, China, Russia, Korea and India. Prior to entering sales, Mr Kearns was operations superintendent for ArcelorMittal Tubular (Copperweld) in Shelby, Ohio.

Based in the company’s Cleveland office, Mr Kearns will lead ferrous and non-ferrous H2SHC™ bell anneal furnace projects, along with supporting the market demand for CAPS™ optimisation software, which already is applied to more than 60 per cent of strip annealed by bell furnaces of all types in the USA. With more than 20 years of experience in manufacturing processes and global capital equipment sales, Mr Kearns is an expert in protective atmosphere systems for metals. He will apply these skills to promote new markets for Energy Resource Control (ERC) a Rad-Con Group company. ERC supplies an innovative natural gas energy system to supply industrial nitrogen and hydrogen at a fraction of the cost of traditional industrial bottled gas.

MARC Solvi, CEO of Paul Wurth SA, was appointed to the managing board of SMS Siemag AG with effect from 1 January 2013. The takeover of the majority share of 59.1 per cent in Paul Wurth by SMS Holding GmbH was finalised on 17 December 2012. Mr Solvi will continue to be in charge of the management of Paul Wurth. He will also work with Dr Guido Kleinschmidt, a member of the managing board of SMS Siemag AG, to coordinate the cooperation between Paul Wurth and SMS Siemag.
