DPAInspect uses a digital camera as its acquisition device, and so is able to measure parts in any location. Launched in 2006, DPAInspect has already been successful with many worldwide leading manufacturers of surface measuring systems and measurement software packages. data collected with the DPAInspect camera is directly transferred to the available measurement software for analysing, eg for comparison with CAD data. In doing so, the user stays in the usual software environment and starts the Aicon DPAInspect plug-in simply with a click. The application of theAicon photogrammetry with white light scanners is of most benefit when highest accuracies are required or when the surface of large objects must be measured. In general, with respect to white light scanners, there is a problem of merging the individual scans flawlessly at their overlaps.

DPAInspect removes this particular problem, precisely determining the position of the whole object in a spatial coordinate system, and delivering accurate 3D reference points (accuracy: +0.015mm/m diagonal of object). Using these reference points, the scans can be fitted precisely. The quality of the scanning results is increased due to the higher overall accuracy.
